JC Whitney Body Parts- replacement front fender

I have done searches for JC Whitney body parts but have not found an answer for my specific question.

I had a lower ball joint break while I was turning out of my neighborhood and my tire was smashed into the wheel well causing fender damage as well as destroying the wheel well cover . I am looking for OEM replacements for these 2 items but do not know where to go for fair prices and a quality product.

I have found these on the JC Whitney site:

Fender

and

Wheel well cover

I asked a rep from their website and she told me the parts were both sheet metal (which is confusing since the OEM cover is NOT metal) and she also told me they would fit as if the parts were from a dealer/factory.

The fender at a dealer is $350 and the cover was $80. JC Whitney sells these for $135 total.

Anybody had experience with these parts or and any better suggestions?

If you replacing sheet metal and stuff like that you will fin it there. My friend got a fender from jc Whitney and it bolted in but the body lines didn't match up no Maker how much we adjusted the surrounding parts.

I need the drivers side and I definetly want it to line up with the body.

Sounds like JC Whitney is not the place to go.

Junkyard- that would be awesome if you had a spare drivers side fender!

Certifit. It says the fender is $62 on their website. And Im not sure how far away you are, but theres a certifit store in denver. that way you wouldnt have to pay for shipping.

Certifit Online click on the closest city and it will open the catalog.

When I was out getting quotes for the repair one of the shops mentioned Certifit- he said he liked to call it 'Sorta-fit' since it's not always the best fit.

He was telling me there was also OEM (highest cost), salvage, high-end aftermarket, and low-end aftermarket. He said the Certifit was kinda near the bottom.

For OEM or high end after market he wanted $1000 which includes paint. But that is the main reason why I want to do this myself now (except the paint)

Anybody else had experience with any of the mentioned above?

You could check the classifieds on here too. Last i checked the part out section had s driver side fender.

That is really weird that they would say the inner fender is sheet metal. I would ask another agent. She may not have known what she was talking about.

yea, Ive also heard mixed reviews on certifit. But I know their bumpers are pretty much spot on, Ive read that alot of people on here said they fit great and I got mine and everything seems to line up good. Worst case scenario you could probably return the fender if the fit is off.

Me personally I would go to Jon at DSMGraveyard. You can probably get it shipped to you for the price that JNZ wants for just the part alone. You might be able to get one that matches the color of your DSM as well . So no painting to save even more $$$$$.

Alright guys, I appreciate all the help you've given me. I've decided to go with a salvage yard part. I called and they had 2 (one with some damage to the air dam and one undamaged). They're selling the undamaged one for $65 (it's red too). Hopefully when I go out there it really is in good shape.

I can't get out there until Monday and the fender is still on the car. Anybody know about how long and difficult it is to remove one of these fenders?

I saw a thread about how there were only 5 or 6 bolts to remove but that seems a little low. Also is there any welding to the rest of the body? I'm assumuing a socket set, screw drivers, and maybe some pliars would be enough.
