GVR-4 J pipe nipple coming loose

I have a problem with a j-pipe nipple that I jb welded in coming loose.
I drilled the hole too large and the fitting was loose in there so I jb welded it.

It lasted a while, but it rattles in there now and is no longer airtight.

The J-pipe is up above the exhaust manifold on a GVR-4, so I think that it might have gotten hot and melted.

I have a welder, but I don't know how to weld yet. This J-pipe is an ETS steel pipe so I assume it can be welded.

Just wondering if there is newer technology stuff besides jb weld that can handle the heat?

I could weld it in or have it welded in but I am concerned about getting an airtight weld. Most people around here lack the ability or the motivation to do things right.

Thoughts on a better adhesive that will hold this thing in place? Maybe it isn't the heat? Maybe it is pressure? Maybe I got lazy and used JB quick? I can't remember.

Welding really would be the best way to go. If you take it somewhere, ask if they can pressure test it. Cap off the ends, gauge on the nipple, add air. Other ways other than welding would yield the same results you are trying to prevent.

Take it somewhere and have it welded. Any other method will probably end up with the same problem you're having now.

Have a 1/8npt female steel bung welded on. Then you can grab a new, not boogered up barbed nipple and have years of trouble free service.
