Oh hush, I'm in PTA right now with just a rollcage added to my current setup.

I think you can classify your car as a turbo FWD which should give you slightly more of a weight penalty but like 15 less engine mod points. I'm not positive, but from reading through the every "performance touring" thats what It looks like. I'll be in PT-B, but thats without the race motor. As soon as I do the race motor i'm looking at just under the 99 points I'm allowed to have while staying in PT-A. Otherwise i'm in SU and thats just not cool.

Don't fret... things are about to change, again ;)

New GPC Classes Being Developed
By Greg G.
Published: March 29, 2006
NASA is in the process of developing two new National race classes, Grand Production Challenge 1 & 2 (GPC), that will be filling the gap between Performance Touring A class (PTA) and Super Unlimited (SU). High-end production vehicles and cars that are not eligible for PTA due to too many modifications, will no longer automatically be placed in the Super Unlimited class where they may not be competitive. Stay tuned for more developments over the next few weeks.

Because of the motor swap, you're automatically put into whatever vehicle the motor came out of's class. soo I think you'd be higher than that.

Since no car of his make ever came with that engine he has to claim the motor swap.

My car classes as a stock tsi fwd after talking with Greg G. That's how I ran my points. With that I'm at 91 points in PT-A.

the mirage gs had a 1.6dohc and the cyborg 1.8t dohc with awd, i gave up the awd for the 200cc's :p

How many of you went through NASA or SCCA for your comp license. I am trying to work with NASA on HPDEs until I feel confident enough to go for my comp license.

not me, i have to find out where I get this in my area.

I'm taking the same approach as D_Eclipse9916. I'm scheduled for my first HPDE in May. I'm a long way away from being able to to compete in this race series, but the education and patience will pay off when it comes time to play with the big boys.

Well here's what I was able to slap together. Would have to dig up some stock components to get me at the top of the 20-39 bracket and not bump into the 40+.

Tire width increased from OEM by : more than 31 mm for 2 points.
Non-OEM camshaft for 4 points.
Programmable fuel systems without control of engine timing (such as SAFC, VAFC): turbo/supercharged for 3 points.
Non-OEM sensors or alteration of sensor inputs (such as non-programmable MAF or MAP voltage “clamps”): turbo/supercharged for 2 points.
Modification of the OEM air box, air filter location, air piping to the turbo/supercharger/throttle body/carburetor for 1 point.
Upgraded or modified turbo/supercharger for OEM turbo/supercharged engine (does not include wastegate actuator, boost controller.) for 7 points.
Aftermarket boost controller without driver control for 3 points.
Non-OEM or modified intercooler for 2 points.
Non-OEM or modified/ported intake manifold: 4 cylinder engine for 1 point.
Non-OEM or modified carburetor, fuel rail, fuel injectors, fuel pump, and/or fuel pressure regulator (no points for fuel pump alone if using OEM fuel and timing maps) for 2 points.
Non-OEM or modified complete exhaust system downstream from the header, exhaust manifold, or turbo. (does not include catalytic converter removal/upgrade) for 2 points.
Lightweight flywheel and/or clutch assembly for 1 point.
Non-OEM or modified coil springs, leaf springs, or torsion bars for 2 points.
Non-OEM adjustable shocks/struts for 4 points.
Add, replace, remove, or modify anti-roll bars ("sway" bars- front, rear, or both - may have spherical joints and polyurethane bushings on the end links) for 2 points.
Non-OEM brake pads for 1 point.
Total: 39pts.

A lot of those you can find ways around. For Example: take off your boost controller and only run it at the wastegate setting. youll still have 300 odd crank horsepower on evne a 16g.

Damn cams, glad I dont have em.

Yea there's lots of places you could give a little to gain some extra points for suspension. For instance I could lose the flashed chip or revert to a 1g maf setup and save some points there too.
