Saskatoon,
Hey guys, I just recieved my ebay FMIC. I ordered the 28x12x3 with all the piping which I thought was already pretty big and they sent me a 32x12x3 with the 3" inlet/outlets. I am running a fairly large turbo (scm6152s) so I figured I needed a large one but will this 32 even fit? I can't recall much people having one this big and I don't want to have alot of trouble with the install. The simple solution would be ship it back to autodynasty:toobad: but me living in Canada the shipping costs to get it back and forth (which I of course have to pay) will end up being more than I paid for the initial setup. Should I at least try to put it together?
thanks

dang and i thought i had a big intercooler! Ive only installed in 2g, I dont know if they have more or less space but the length would fit a 2g, the height is pretty crazy though, width is doable but would require a lot of bumper trimming. Again, how tall it is would be my concern if i was putting it on a 2g as far as fitment goes. As far as turbo and intercooler volume i wouldnt be concerned. Is it tube and fin or bar and plate?

do you have a link to this intercooler? is the core itself 32'' or is the total length 32''. 12'' tall and 3'' thick is fine but measure the distance between where the crash bar is bolted to the chassis. this will tell you if it will fit. if it is too wide you could always fab up another bumper support but like you said you don't want too much trouble with the install. good luck.

Personally i run a 31x12x3.5, but this is on a 2g. You could make this work, but it still might be overkill. Mine is even overkill for my set up. Have you tryed mounting it yet?

All i have to say is holy crap thats alot of piping

That and dont expect that bov to last to long i have seen 3 or 4 people come thru the shop because there knock off was leaking like hell

ya know man I'm just not sure...Yeah, you're turbo isn't anything tiny, but I mean damn that intercooler is huge....And just keep in mind that yeah obviously there IS such a thing as a too large of an intercooler....but hey , just think of it this way, if you get your planned 28", it certainly won't be too small. That's the size of my intercooler (28") and I'm only running a FP Big28.
...In my opinion, I would say that's a bit of overkill, but hey, do what ya think is right. Good luck!

I didn't buy the setup for that "HKS" blow off valve. As for the massive amount of piping I am a welder by trade and I plan on hacking it up to make a custom short route. I'll get to use the new TIG setup on the Miller ShopMaster that we just got at work:rocks: From what you guys are saying it shouldn't be that hard of an install. Thanks for the replies.

That's a 7" longer version of the core I have. It should fit with lots of triming and the metal bumper mounting brackets are going to have to go. I could go measure it out for you tommorow but just by eye balling out my window 3.5" on either side should be no problem, aside from the fact that a lot of it is going to be barried in your bumper.

[Well, the pics are sure as hell too big.]

4' this 12" tall and 32" wide and all I did was remove the 5mph bumper support. shit my fmic is more protection than that anyway ROFL

35"x12"x4". On a 1997 Talon that required no more cutting over a previously installed 2-216 core. It utilizes cast aluminum end tanks, 3" outlets and a protective plate welded to the bottom. Last time on the dyno the driver side end tank barely got warm. This was on the old setup using a SCM6176.

You mean the passenger side? The driver side is pre-intercooler and how big or small the intercooler is would have nothing to do with that. Anyway i'll change my pics to links so you guys can still see them but there is def room for a big fmic and it's one of those thing as long as it doesn't have like 5psi drop it's effecient enough.

he he, I'm guilty:D

No I mean the driver's/inlet side. That is just how efficient the whole car is.

 It don't work like that. The most effecient car in the world is still gonna be warm to hot on the inlet and depending on the fmic or just intercooling system in general will determine the temperature on the other side.
