Is this Intercooler any good?

Well I picked this Supra IC up from a internet ad and had no knowledge it was in this bad of shape. I started to straighten the fins but as I did they started to fall apart! The aluminum is so brittle I can run my finger across the top and fins just flake off. What could cause aluminum to become so fragile? Also the bottom side is dented inwards. Should I even try to clean this up or just take the endtanks off and recycle the aluminum?

Unfortunately I paid $80 for it with shipping. The took three weeks to send it after he got my M.O. (which I sent Next Day Air)

I would post what site I read the ad from and the guys name but I dont think that is allowed here.

Oh well, live and learn. Sadly, this isnt the first time I've been mislead on internet ads. Trying to save a buck has cost me more in the long run.

There's a saying. Too good to be true.

Live and learn yes but always ask for pics. If he doesn't take time to take pics for the product he is selling then is not worth your time. Looks like salty sea water might of killed it? I'm not sure. See if you can get your money back or part of it sense the intercooler is pretty useless.

Yeah, I should have known better. The guy originally wanted me to pay a higher price than he listed the part for and wanted $30 shipping on top of that. After numerous emails I haggled him down to $80 total.

After two weeks and no intercooler I had to send a email threatening legal action (Contacting FBI Internet Fraud HQ, and his local Police Sheriff). He responded within minutes of me sending the email. HA!

I send him a email asking for a refund. Dont know what the results will be.

I'm a deer looking at headlights sometimes.

I would demand a refund and bring out the threat of legal action again if he refuses. This is assuming he made some assertion that the intercooler is in working condition.

Wow. The only time I ever see fins that bad are on the window air conditioners we have sitting behind our shop waiting to be brought to the junkyard..& they've been sitting there for months & months. I like going back there & kicking the shit out of the condenser coil fins...it's my anger management.

With the fins falling apart like that on the core, that is some major corrosion. It had to be like sitting outside or underwater for a long time. I'd apply for fraud too as the others have stated before.

Toss it and get the xs/ss autochrome 2g full kit with short route pipes for $295 shipped brand new.

That thing looks beat up, even if you could fix it, I wouldnt think it's worth it. You can prob. go to a junkyard and find a starion or other smic in better shape.

Holly shit thats a peice of shit!!! The supra sidemounts I sell are in 10x better condition then that junk. Ask for a refound, and if he doesnt pay you back hes a damn scammer. I dont even see why someone would sell that thing.
