I bought this o2 eliminator dp from RnR and they said that they threw in the SS option. I cant tell if it really is stainless or not.

Umm SS will still attract a magnet, but it won't stick that well (depending on the quality of the SS).
It looks stainless...???

300 series will not attract to a magnet whereas 400 series, typically found in kitchen knives, will attract. I would say putting some water on the pipe will be a better test. SS will not rust.

Tripper

i have that exact part from rnr and my doesnt look like that as far as the brown spots on it and its not as shiny. I cant tell exactly but i dont think its ss it looks a lot different than mine.

if ryan says its ss though i would believe him why would he lie

Yeah...it took them quite some time to get me the downpipe so they threw in the SS option. I just need to know for sure so I dont advertise the part as SS if its not SS. I will put some water on it and try the magnet trick to see if it is truely SS. Ill let you guys know tomorrow.

true SS will attract a magnet about as well as aluminium does :p
only hi -carbon content staintless will attract.

he said rnr said that they "threw it in" i'm assuming by threw it in he didnt have to pay extra for it.
True, but it makes RNR look better to other potential customers, or to him.

sorry not to thread jack or anything, but what is the advantage of a o2 eliminator dp? does it actually eliminate the o2 sensor, or just the housing? sorry, i'm a nOOb... :D

Ask all the people who have waited two months for there exhaust when "it was sent out yesterday."

Its hard to tell from that pic, but I doubt it. I got the normal exhaust and it looks just like that. I will post a pic when I get home.

I have the prototype RnR 2G FWD exhaust and it was glommed together with a SS straight section in the middle-- it looks just like the picture. My bends are not SS and are already rusted (no aluminizing on them, apparently), but the straight parts are still good.

It does appear to be SS. For one, when I polish it up a bit I get that SS bling bling. For two, I put water on it an no corrosion. I put water onto my RnR catback (that I know is not SS) and it developed spots in a short time. Check this too...a magnet WILL NOT attract to to the downpipe but it will attract very well to my RnR catback (again I know it is not SS). So it definatly is not the same steel that RnR puts on their standard catback.

Ahh...very nice. Anyone here want to buy an RnR 2.5" O2 Eliminator DP w/ the SS option for a 2g AWD? LOL

No it does not eliminate the o2 sensor....I dont know if you can see from that pic but there is an o2 port toward the top of the DP. The advantage is a straight through path for the wastegate gases thus limiting creap (common problem for DSM's.). The stock o2 housing is somewhat restricive unless ported...this will outflow just about any ported o2 housing.

If you are looking for a new dp let me know...I will let it go for much cheaper than RnR and will have it shipped ASAP.
