:talon: I was curious if I should rebuild or just keep going with this turbo. It looks like it inhaled something but spools fine and has no shaft play. Is this common or really bad? What should I do now?

What kinda turbo is it? is it really worth trying to clean up the blades, or would it be easier to get a new one... if it's like a dual ballbearing turbo that cost you 1200+ to get, I'd try and take a small grinding wheel and clean up the edges so they're not all rough... if it's a stocker or something similar, I'd just sell it as is on ebay (be sure to show the damage, someone will buy it to rebuild) and pick up a 16g or something close to your power goals.

I didn't understand anyone else's post yet. Don't spend money to rebuild a used 16g, It needs a rebuild for a reason you know...
Don't fix that sorry excuse for a turbo, Plant it in your back yard next to the fence.

If you are looking for a new, Yet cheap replacement. Get a s16g and port it. It's the most underrated turbo out there, I think. Anything else you need all the supporting mods in my opinion.

Good luck.

To be honest that isn't even near the worst turbo I have seen. Never EVER take a grinding wheel to the turbo. You are guaranteed to mess up the balance.

It is an excuse to upgrade it but as long as you don't have any pieces that might come loose and arn't trying to race don't worry about it too much (aka for the person who just needs to drive the car). It won't be as efficient as it could be but at 130,000 RPMs you can get some funky boundary layers that keep air off the leading edge anyway.
