I was recently having some problems with my car while traveling at higher speeds (express way). The car would sway a little on me and didn't feel right. I took it in over the weekend to get what I thought was an alignment problem fixed, but they told me that my lower ball joints on each side were loose and that I also needed to replace my drivers side inner tie rod. They quoted me $650 for both ball joints and the tie rod, including the labor to do it. I normally get all my work done up north where my parents live because it's typically much cheaper. I called up there and they quoted me $400 for the same thing. That's awesome that it's that much cheaper, but I still think it seems high, but maybe it's a beeeotch to do or something. Let me know if that's what I should be paying to get this work done.

Thanks.

yeah 650 is way too much. My brother just bought ball joints and complete tie rods for his dsm. He installed it himself but the parts were $120. $400 sounds much better than $650 but make sure they are including an alignment with that price.

Yep, front and rear alignment included. The ride of my car has seemed pretty harsh lately too. Will this improve that as well? Or is that more shocks and struts?

You might want to check recall for your ball joints. I just had mine done a couple of weeks ago...parts and labor payed for by dealership. If you have a mechanic do it you can send in the reciept and they will refund you. That is only if it's under recall...eclipse's aren't so since you have a talon I would call up the dealership with your vid.

I had one ball joint that wasn't under recall and the part was $190 with $100 labor. The two that were under recall would have cost me a fortune, don't know why so expensive.

Just wanted to let you know. Good luck.

He is right do not get the work done from this mechanic. Take it straight to your local chrysler/eagle dealer and get this done for free. All 2gs are under the ball joint recall.

Are you guys serious? Is this definite? I will go to a dealership tomorrow if I know this is a fact!!! Let me know as soon as possible!

They're gonna do them! Awesome... thanks guys. They did mention the tie rod needs done too, and they also mentioned that the right lateral control arm is really bad and needs replaced... 450 bucks to do it! I told them to hold off and I'm gonna get it done somewhere else. Thanks again guys.

I was gonna ask though... how difficult is it to do either of those? I'm assuming tie rods are a little simpler than replacing a control arm. Also, what should I expect to pay for the parts if I were to get them myself? Thanks for the help.
