Lately my TOB has been clicking when the engine is cold, the ticking goes away when I depress the clutch pedal and after a few minutes of driving, I do not hear it when moving in gear, just when in neutral.
Its an OEM TOB with about 8k on it, does it still have some life to it or is it going to fail soon?

I pulled the trans the other day when changing my motor, I also changed my TOB, the old one looked fine and the input shaft had no play...

I have a similar issue and was told rod knock by mitsu dealership after listening with chassis ears. But then took it to a shop that works on high performance cars and was told piston slap. So I guess no matter what I will have to do a rebuild.

The reason I pulled the motor and trans was to put in a new motor, the noise is still there.
I am not worried about it anymore because I have driven it a few thousand miles and it is still the same.
Also, the noise is coming from underneath the passenger side trans/motor mount. It also only seems to make the noise when in neutral and it is cold.
