Is it worth buying a VPC????

I lose about 25 h.p. (via DSMLINK) or so when I pull my VPC off and add the 2g MAF back on. Also, the VPC leans the crap out of the motor which adds quite a bit of top end power if your not knocking. I've always run significantly faster with a VPC installed, although driveability can suck sometimes.

That's great but I didn't say anything about a VPC, I said putting a maf in front of the turbo wouldn't cause the a huge loss. I have AEM and Dsmlink and switch between the two for comparisons all the time. I can run with a maf, without a maf, with a maf and a map sensor, or whatever. There is no noticeable difference. If you are seeing large gains/losses, it's due to tuning.

I just reinstalled my VPC after having my car down for 2 years. Aside from cold start up funkiness which is legendary for a VPC and a funny misfire at initial throttle tip in right around 3000 rpm, driveability is much improved over the standard 2g MAF setup. That misfire problem is something I've never seen in the many years I've owned a VPC. I think my injectors got clogged during storage cause of the gasoline I let sit in there for 2 years.

In any case I can cruise around with much less throttle and still get the car moving quick. Spoolup at part throttle is also impressive. If you just breath on the gas pedal your in boost, and even 5 lbs gets the car moving nicely. Top end increase is noticeable.

The idle oscillations aren't that bad anymore since I dialed in more idle signal via the GCC. I see no reason NOT to run a VPC as it made my car in a way much MORE driveable on the street then a 2g MAF setup and I even prefer it to my 05 WRX STi.
