recently my 91 laser turbo running lean and the timing is being pulled due to knock (i believe at least) the car is sluggish at WOT, i got raped by my friends diamante(15.7sec 1/4mile). I dont have that many mods yet, and im planning on getting a logger next. Anyways is it too soon to get an AFC? I was planning on getting Injectors, Pump, and AFC at the same time but do i really need all that now? I need some opinions to get me moving back up to speed.

i would say get the logger first and see whats going on......you dont need the AFC until you upgrade the injectors.

i half way agree with this... definatly get the logger first..but if you have the cash for the afc then get it too...it can only help and you can tune even with your stock injectors

Do you guys think if I got a logger and fuel pump I would be ok, or do I have to be able to tune that with the fuel controller.

general consensus get a logger. Then you can see if you are pulling knock and what your fuel trims are. Get an egt gauge too. You might not be running lean but your knock sensor could be messed up.. youll never know unless you have logger.....good luck

ok i got my logger hooked up and running. I did a 3rd gear pull today from 2968-6312rpm, it was about 83 degrees out and it was 100% humidity. My mods are in my profile and i was running 14 psi. If someone could please interpret this log for me it would be a huge help.

Your fuel trims are really lean. You say free mods but on the maf, did you remove both honeycombs or just the lower? Did you have this problem before the free mods or only after? Also, if you are using mmcd logger software, you need to log o2-r, not o2-f. I think the software is backwards. Mine is anyway.?

Yep, it's O2-R on the newer versions of MMCD. The old ones only had one...

Basically the conclusion is if you were logging the right sensor, it's toast. You need a new O2 sensor, not a AFC!

I didnt mention that I did all the free mods except removing the honeycombs from the maf. Also i got my logger from digital tuning.

I only started having problems after I put on my Intake, it seems really weird to me.

i replaced the 02 sensor... no fix, i took the car in and found out its most likely clogged injectors.

yup seems like your motor is not gettting enough fuel even though the ecu says it is. I would say you might have a fuel clog somewhere.

good luck

scott

yea i got my injectors and my fuel rail cleaned out and the car still runs the same i really need to figure out why my 02 sensor is seeing such a lean condition. i dont have a ground on my downpipe so im gonna look into getting one on. any one have any suggestions????

You said you only started having this problem after you put on your "Intake". What do you mean by that? Did you install an aftermarket intake manifold or some kind of blingy CAI? If you didn't start having your problem until this, I'd go back to it and look. That's where you problem most likely is.

by "intake" im refering to between the air filter and turbo inlet, i think it might be coincendental that my problems started after i put that on ive taking it off and switched it back to the stock one and there was no change.
