The other day i replaced one of my rod bearings and while i was under there i went ahead and checked the torque on the other 3 caps, but i think something happened to my torque wrench because now my crank is really hard to turn...even with the head off!!! And yes it was a standard size bearing, which is just what came off, and there was no damage at all to the crank or the rod, i checked really carefully.

For sure!!
What will happen is the rod bolt will over stretch and loose all its strength. If you reuse those bolts you will have a high possibility of a nut coming off the rod or a spun rod bearing.

did you make sure you put the rod cap back on the proper way? notch in rod to notch in cap?

yes when you over torque the rod bolt you can pull it thu its strech value and weakin the bolt and the bolt can/will snap causing a slung rod and alot of damage to the crank and block ect...

Well thats good to know. I took it back off and inspected everything. The crank doesn have any scratches to it that hang a nail or anything but it looks kind of scratchy. Im not real sure. the bearing had a wear line straight down the center of it. The car will be down for a while anyway bc i have to build another head for it. Somehow a bolt got dropped into #3 cylinderand it bent a valve and damaged the valve seat to where it wont hold compression!!:banghead: I have another head.....i just have to get around to gettin everything done.
