High boost used to be @ 26psi, and it wouldn't hit that point till just after 5k, which I thought was weird considering the research I did on it before I bought it. @ 18 psi, I hit boost in the mid-hi 4k rpm range, which I think is kinda odd too, but maybe it's just me. :(

Hmm maybe thats normal then. I was worried for a while but I couldn't find any leaks or anything anywhere. I posted on here about it a while back and a few members were saying I should be seeing 20 psi by 4200!!!!! That seems waaaaaaay off. 18 psi for me was around 4800 or so. I think I need a smaller turbo :thumbdown

I remember it being by 4200 as well........Extreme PSI and PTE said it should be by 4200 as well. maybe we both have leaks. :(

here in pa we got sunoco 94..and at some sonoco gas stations, we got 100 octane pump gas.

EHHH.... I didn't read the entire thread but I'm running 20PSI on 92 Oct on a 2.3L 8.8:1 w/ 60-1, ported head, 272's, VPE FMIC, 660cc, SAFC and Eprom......

Granted, I haven't gotten a lot of miles on it since the rebuild so I haven't tried to take it to the edge yet. But so far I'm getting 20 PSI, 0-2 knock and timing ~ 21-23 at the top of 3rd...... Can't wait to get the new radiator in, get it running, and see how far I can go w/ the boost :D

Yea thats what I was thinking but I couldn't find anything. Did you have to get longer studs and a spacer plate to space out the exhaust manifold and to keep the turbo from hitting the block or water pipe? I added the spacer plate and the studs, but maybe for some reason it's not sealing right. I pressurized the whole system and found no leaks ... so that's gotta be it.

No, Ididn't get longer studs or a spacer plate-I just "massaged" the water line LOL. Hey, when you are sitting at idle, what does your vacuum read? Mine reads 15-20 sitting, rolling in nuetral, it reads 25.. I'll check again today tho. If I do have a problem, I'm just about 100% sure it's not in my pipes.......unless it's something VERY small I missed.

sunoco is doing away with the 94 octane pump gas and only having 93 as their highest... i know, because i heard about it, thought it was a rumor, then 2 days later they took it away from all of my local sunocos!!!!! bastards!!!! :thumbdown

22psi on 93octane with 3065. With 2-3 counts of knock and 18degrees timing. I have the Dejon race front mount, blow though 3.5'' MAF with trans set to stock, AFC at +2 on high map, and keydiver chipped programmed for 850's. This is with like 30min of tuning by a tuning noob. I am pretty sure I can get more agressive with it.

22-23psi on 94 Octane pump took me to 12.13 @ 113mph this weekend. I'm getting 22-23deg of timing at WOT as well.

Just don't plan on running your fastest time first shot out. When it doens't happen go back and figure out what the problem is.

Hmm maybe I should try denting my water line as well. ( I have a 1g head so the water line is a tad different but I'd still like to make it work. My vacuum reads 19 at idle. Not sure about rolling in neutral but mine goes to 24 or so sometimes when I'm decellerating. I tightened my studs that hold the exhaust mani to the head and I see 20 psi at 4800 now. Still higher than I hoped, but better than 5200... I tested for boost leaks and could not find any.

I did the same thing. I'm now hitting 23 @ 4400, which is still off for me too, but it's better. your vac readings are about the same as mine, so I think I'm okay there. No leaks either. Hmm......

All pumps I have seen in Ohio are 94 at Sunoco.

I have a 60 trim, 23 psi with 94 octane I get 1 count knock "burps" every now and again.
Stock 1g Motor, FMIC, 550cc, 255, Adjustable Reg. @50psi Base. I get 24-25 peak timing.

As for the CAI, without it I was at 165deg intake temps on an 80 deg day. WIth My CAI, I ride around at 115 deg on a 78 deg day recently.

Yea I just can't figure it out ... maybe thats with an evo 3 exhaust mani or a hella ported 2g mani? ( my 2g is ported slightly, but the opening on the turbo is still like 1cm larger than the outlet on the mani... ) I dunno, but even hitting full boost at 4800 is too late for me. I tried putting it in neutral while I was rolling and my vac readings are the same as when I'm idling ( about 19 )

yah....kinda like everyone says the scm 50 should be fully spooled ap by 35-3800. Sure as hell not for me........

Does everyone run this much base fuel pressure? I am running 40psi now but if I can get more boost out of pump gas with higher base pressure than I am all for it.

Damn it Jim Not I have to do even more to catch you! :thumb: Nice Numbers!

I think the reason he's running 50psi base is because the 550cc injectors are under sized for his combo.

Yes, and I still have some pulse width to play with. But when I want to go 26-27psi with the race gas, Im sure my base will be up around 55psi to compensate. I am hell bent on makeing 400whp on 550cc because it is some kind of taboo about how it is a total imposibility.

all the sunocos around where i live still have 94. also there is a marathon that sells race gas by a track. yea for ohio, woot woot

also, not sure fi anyoneknows but 100 is the highest octane level you can techinically have, so I want to know if any one knows what scale is being used to figure out the "octane" levels of the othe chemicals like toulene, propane etc. the scale is made up after 100 so does anyone know how they go about figuring it out? I had this discussion with my manager at work. also the octane scale is not linear, which is why 93 can give much better results than 91, at least not linear in the higher numbers at is goes lower it becomes more linear.

anyway, anyone know who or what the scale is for figuring out the octane of something above 100?

When I dyno'd on 93 Octane here, I saw peak timing @16 degrees in 3rd gear with boost around 19'ish. That was the most I could get without knocking. I'm having my FMIC pressure tested soon. I think that had alot to do with with my knock. Last time @ the track the car trapped 110 bogging badly out of 1st gear or else I think it might have went a mph or 2 higher. This was with an A/F of around 11.0:1.
