So I used to have a big16g, ran 18psi on pump ;91 octane. Long story short I got a 50 trim and just got everything worked out so its running well. Constantly I see people talking about how they are running 21psi on pump... 22psi ... wtf? Are they running 10 timing? yet still making 420whp? or are they just lying ?

If you reply could you please put your pump octane you have in your area and the psi you run with that octane, please. Maybe tell me a little about your experience... thanks

I run 21psi with 92 octane gas on my FP green (50trim compressor). Datalogs show max knock counts of 5-7 depending on the outside temperature during third or fourth gear pulls.

*edit* That's on a 7.8:1 compression six bolt, FWIW.

how much timing are you geting? how much power have u made on pump?;assuming uve dynoed it on pump

out in the real world we get 93 and even 94 octane so we can run more boost than you guys do, hell i run 19psi on a 14b on stock injectors even.

I've never dynoed the car. Timing is usually in the mid to low 20's in the upper RPM range since knock counts stay fairly low. My best E.T. on pump gas so far has been a 12.5 @ 111.

I just got stationed in California back in December and I'm still pissed about this 91 Octane crap. I hate it...and so does my car. Constantly getting cut and I'm only running 16psi on a 14b. I got it tuned in Va with 93oct., now I gotta get it retuned.

They aren't in California. They can buy real gasoline instead of the special horsepiss the State allows here.

If you're younger than about 30, you don't even know what gasoline smells like. I don't know what that crap is that we're burning, but I've glued models together with stuff that'll burn better.

Try $2.55 per gallon... :thumbdown BUt I get a slammin' deal on 104 octane $22.00 for 5 gallons.. Out here it usually goes for $30.00 per gallon or more. :dsm:

$30.00 a gallon or 30 for 5 gallons

$4.00 is regular price where I used to live.

I might have to start mixing gas just for my pump map! 91 octane here only!! i have never seen a pump of 93... next time i go on vacation i will go around looking for a 93 pump and ill take a picture, for people who are stock, should u put in 93 or 91? the ECu couldnt be different for areas where the cars were sold... how does that work out?

The ecu will adjust accordingly and that's surely part of the reason our cars are running much less boost than they are capable of from the factory as well. :thumb:

haha yeah our 67 camaro running a 468 adn a 8-71 blower pumpin 22psi at 8.1 to 1 runs 104 plus booster and it cost us in mich like 4.50 a gallon

smells like roses and burns your nose burns with a blueish tint

I run 93 octane here in central IL. 26 psi on a fp3055 with 0 knock. Timing is in the mid twenties. don't have any dyno numbers or track numbers sorry.

im sorry but i just think you are BSIng... show me proof

Agreed .. I can see someone doing that on race gas, but NOT 93 octane. Anyone that lists "stock ecu," and "stock head" in their profile as speed mods is BSing.

What is the rest of your setup, primarily what FMIC and what fuel management?

The only thing I can use to justify my ease at running big boost on pump gas is that the car only weights 2500 lbs, so the load isn't quite as much as a normal dsm. But then again when I log the car I've got myself and usually a buddy in the car, so that puts it at about 2900 lbs. (on par with a fwd with a driver).

My setup is nippondenso 660's from RRE, aeromotive FPR, walbro high pressure 255L, -6AN fuel line from the tank.

I now have an eprom ecu, though it's not socketed, previously I had the stock non-eprom. My point with the ecu and head comment was that I'm not running cams so the car is more streetable and I don't have any crazy standalone to tune it. Just a crappy outdated version of the dsm translator, though I'd like to get the new upgrade that goes in 2% increments. Thanks for reminding me to get the new chip :)

and the fmic is the spoolinup core that everyone in the dsmtalk.com group buy got ripped off on. I actually got mine, it was the 'cooler'.

660's are very small for that kind of boost level.

Which brings me to the conclusion that you simply are not flowing a lot of air. Since pressure is not equal to airflow, if your setup is restrictive you can run more boost without seeing the limits (knock, power, etc) that you normally would see.

On some cars, such as (I think) the turbo 2.3l fords, they run absolutely rediculious boost levels, to the tune of 30+ psi. However, they only flow as much as a 4G63 at 20 psi..

I run a PTE SCM 50 on Cali 91 at ~23 psi. I get 7-9 counts and 17-19 degrees of timing. I ran [email protected] on 91, full weight - AC.

I'm sure Kris J is telling the truth. Why would he come on here, lie about timing, and not make up some ficticious times. You're just being silly.
