2G Is cold phantom knock normal?

Hey just wanted to ask for some opinions on this behaviour i've been seeing. Basically, if I start the car up, go pull away and give it a bit of throttle before it's up to temp, I'll hit about 3 degrees of retard. This issue vanishes once the car has warmed up a bit. It will do it with no boost when cold as well, so this has me thinking that the issue is just piston slap. I have heard that forged pistons often make a bit of extra noise until they warm up. Does this sound normal? Like I mentioned, once the car warms up I dont have the issue.

If you have forged internals and depending on your P2W clearance it is possible to be piston slap as the metal will expand once warm. I would at least until engine temp gets up to 170* before moving as I don't want to risk any investment I have put into it.
If waiting to warm is too much, invest in a remote start system.

Alright. Yeah it doesnt seem to be horrible, or even consistant. Usually if i start it and wait a minute or so its fine. I usually dont get into any boost until the needle is back up to temp.
