is a dl to tsi awd conversion possible

I have a 1990 tsi awd thats body is pretty beat and rusty as hell, but it still runs and drives smooth, however the body is beat, i also have a 1994 talon dl, Assuming i completely rob my 1990 of parts, is it possible to convert the 94 to the tsi awd with all of the parts from the 90 or am i going to need many more parts and incur many headaches?

Anything is possible with unlimited funds and unlimited time. I have no idea why you would waste either doing this, though.

Not worth the headache you will go through to get it all to work. You would save alot of money and time by just finding another 1g awd shell and swapping the drivetrain over. To make some of the money back you can part out whats left of your 90 awd.

because the body is in awesome shape and i have both cars and if you can bolt all parts from the 90 over then it would involve lots of time and little investment with summer coming up i will have the time but not the money. Seeing if its possible or if anyone has heard of such a swap, i really hate losing a nice body like my 94 has, would it be less of a challenge if i aimed to turn it into just a tsi, then it would just be wiring harness guages and transmission correct?

the parts just wont bolt up theres alot of fabing and welding witch takes alot of time and money thats been my understanding about people doing the swaps things wont just bolt up

You really got to consider what its worth to you. If you have a welder you can make it happen. Probably very cheap too. Your gonna hear it will or it won't work, but it really depends on whether you can chance it or not. Is the DL your daily d? Are you willing to spend the summer building a frankenstien to only find an awd chassis for $200 the next week? Or even worse, end up parting out both of them because you fail? That is what you should decide. Otherwise, GO FOR IT! Prove us wrong that its too easy.

im gunna go for it, im gunna drive it as a dl, make sure i make it ride nice and smooth then make it a Tsi. and i have been researching a bit and im pretty sure this is all i need correctm e if im wrong

Turbo wiring harness
Tsi engine
Turbo Gauge cluster
Cooling lines intercooler etc
tsi tansmission clutch and flywheel
since its auto and im goign standard. All std transmission parts and accessories
since its a 1.8 to 2.0/t conversion new front axels, but not hubs

cant you just bolt the body panels from the dl onto the tsi? im not sure about dsm's on this, but i have done it on other cars before.

and anyhow it makes more sence toconvert my dl to a tsi becuase all the body and frame and etc are good, short of welding new rocker panels in they are irreplaceable, and the body metal is rusted through, im pretty confident in the conversion

the money spent for this swap could be used for turbo upgrade or give the cars and get a newer one

there is a nice running/driving 90 TSI for sale by me for $900 -
thats just 1 example of how its soo not worth it.
unless you want to fool the inchurance companys?

though it is about 200 dollars a year difference, its just that the 94 has a molded body kit and is already painted really nicely and has absolutely no rust, how many gs-t's can you find with all that work done for 900 dollars especially in new york? Also i will have the time to do it this summer. I will also be doing a lot of upgrade work while i do the engine swap, like a 16g upgrade with a fmic so it wont all be in vain.
