Hey guys ripped open my tranny to see what was wrong with it it was missing 3- 4th gear just spontaneously so i took it apart and i learned that 2 sets of gears werent even touching eac other because a gear shaped washer( thats what i think it is didnt match up to the gear it was on thus making the gearrs jamand not match up all i want to know is is this supposed to be like this im going to load up some picture of the gearson the shaft and pont out what im talking about.

ohh kay in the picture with the green circle and arrow im pointing out the green washer / spacer wha tever that is... shapped like a gear with teeth. That is the thing that doesn't match the gear that it sits right next to.

The pictures with the blue arrows are pointing to that spacer where the teeth match up to the gear and spacer. The black arrows are pointing to where the teeth start to become off set and aren't lined up while the blue ones are lined up.

The third picture is the view of the gears from the opposite view of the last picture. It show the final result of the teeth being off set as it progresses around the back of the picture. its alittle fuzzy so I took the liberty to point out the offset spacer teeth with pink arrows and place pink dots on the teeth and then I put blue dots on the teeth of the actuall gear.

Now when ever I rotate the assemble all i saw was that space stayed off set untill it got to the off set teeth. If it was forced it would push the teeth of the corresponding gear sets apart and then two sets of gear on the shaft wouldnt touch each other. Most likely 3rd and 4th gear and it would explain my slight grinding rattle sound when ever shifter is put in those gear positions. rattle of barley touching gears and no power.

What yall think is this supposed to be like this? or am I right for thinking I should replace that with the space that matches up?

Ohh yeah its a 1990 22 spline tranny awd if that makes this more specific any question just ask me I need to figure this out.
