Interior paint long term results

Who has long term results for painting their plastic interior bits? I'm talking at least a year.

What paint did you use?
What prep did you do?
How has it held up? Any chipping? fading? cracking? peeling?




There's a million threads and videos floating around on painting interior plastic parts and vinyl with various products, a lot of them with REALLY good results. But I'm interested in hearing and seeing LONG TERM results to see which ones are holding up. Vinyl paint, fabric, leather, plastic, etc Thanks! Here's a picture because no one likes to read. ^_^

Already used duplicolor vynil&fabric spray paint. Had very good result each time.

Of course, follow the instruction, parts must be cleen, dust-free, etc..

My 2g came with a full "white" painted interior trim. Before finding good OEM trim pannel, i used the gray color from duplicolor and the match watch 95% of the oem gray.
But i'll avoid any friction area like door handle. I dont know if its gonna hold well. And any fabric, finish is not really good (smooth)
My trim panel have been painted for 2 years before i sourced a leather interior.

We always use an adhesion promoter. Helps the vinyl paint stick and stay. My sons Camaro has only been done a year but sure looks fresh red from 1986. He had our Oriellys mix the paint to match, they did a real good job and he did each panel separately and used primer also.
Best tip is the adhesion promoter Erik.

I've had wear issues with the door sills and door panels. It doesn't last in high wear areas so best bet is to apply extra coat there and expect to touch up when it does wear down.

I used TSP to clean, bulldog adhesion promoter, and SEM color coat.

SEM Color Coat is the best product out there. It is an elastometric coating rather than a paint.

-SEM Soap

- adhesion promoter/ (SEM Sand Free)

-SEM Color Coat


Stuff is very resilient- I tested this process on a center armrest years ago. You cannot go wrong with this recipe

coats of the SEM Color Coat Satin gloss clear can help with the issues you had in those high traffic areas
