i notice many ppl change the interior of the lights to either blue or red and a variety of other colors. however check this out.

for you night owls this might help prevent a fatal crash.

however it is proven that red light helps retain night vision because the rods in your eyes aren't sensitive to red. as a pilot, you are highly recommended to carry a flashlight that shines red light or at least a red lens so you can read the sectionals without compromising your vision.

just a thought. what do you guys think? will it make any of you guys change the interior lights? blue or red? ability to stay awake or ability to see more clearly at night? i probably would choose blue since i had such an experience before where i fell asleep at the wheel. [plus it's my favorite color]

Well, that is good info, might influence my decision on what color to re-do my gauges, lights, etc.
Maybe I will just steer clear of driving too late at night!

Changing the map-lights to red LED bulbs really helps a LOT at night, when you need to look for something real quick, or have a passenger looking at a map or directions sheet. Blue's overdone anyway.

I'd rather stop and get out, walk around the car and continue on, or find a park-n-ride lot to pull over and take a nap in if I was really that tired, rather than destroy my night vision with blue light and crash into somebody.

amen to that, you will definitely see my talon in a rest area for about an hour or two if I'm really sleepy at the wheel. i think the blue interior lights would look pretty clean only because it matches my stereo color and my indiglo gauges, but I also like the idea of using red light to see better at night due to my not too bright ebay projector headlights.

Unless your map's in color, and the red parts matter to you.

Ever drive a goddamned Pontiac at night? If that doesn't permanently sour you on red lighting, nothing will.

Not that Pontiacs are worth much of a crap while the sun's shining.

Yup, buddy has a Firebird Formula. And I normally don't have a map in the car... just a piece of paper I've put the directions down on. If I get so lost that I have to pull out a Thomas Bros, I'll be pulling over anyway and using the main dome light (still a white bulb) to figure out where I've ended up. :D

:thumb: I own a 02 GA GT as well... I hate the red lighting... but blue is overplayed and yeah... I should shut up tho...
