So I was tearing apart my car today. And found some unpleasant results from the precious owner. But I found the intake temp sensor was not hooked up. So I have hooked my car up to ecm link and saw it was reading a temp for the intake before and yes the temp would change depending on driving conditions. So how is this possible? Should it be hooked up? I honestly have no clue about ecm link just hooked it up to see what I could read off the car a couple times. And I believe my car has ecm link v3 lite and unfortunately I can't run my car due to the previous owner lieing about the timing belt being replaced recently.

It's the air intake temp sensor from what I have seen online. If it's aftermarket I couldnt tell you, it looks like the one pictured below. I believe I'm running the stock MAF (theres a sensor where my air filter goes thats MAF?) I don't think it's set up for speed density. The previous owner kinda did a bad job setting this car up. When i removed my FMIC it had a hude dent on the top of it, they did not cut the crash bar up front it's just gone. Again I'm fairly new to tuning on cars this advanced LOL (I know its from the 90s but I'm used to carburetors LOL).

The stock MAF has it's own temp sensor. The one you posted is an aftermarket sensor, probably just used to log charge temps.

Ah, thank you sir. So if I'm to assume correctly the guy was setting the car up for speed density just didnt get a new MAF or can you use the stock one for speed density? Also it was never hooked up to my knowledge, when I took off the piping it was connected to there was no wiring to it just a mountain of JB weld around it LOL

Speed Density doesn't use a MAF sensor, usually just an intake temp and MAP sensor.

The PO was probably just logging charge temps post-turbo. The intake temps at the throttle body are usually different (and more accurate) than those at the MAF sensor.

I see. Well thanks for the help on figuring that out. Though I guess it won't matter for some time due to a valve check and timing belt that needs to be replaced. But I'm in the process of cleaning up my engine bay as well so I just wanted to make sure when I put everything back in I had it all hooked back up correctly. Thanks again!!
