Okay I was starting to take the intake Manifold off with my trusty Haynes manual.
Okay one of the steps is to Relieve the fuel pressure.

1. Open fuel filler cap.

2. Disconnect the fuel pump eletrical connector at the fuel pump(see illustration.)

The illustration says

2.3b On 2.0L models the fuel pump eletrical connector is located in the trunk area, to the left of the spare tire under the carpet.

I cannot find this connector i have my carpet the spare tire and everything else out of my trunk/hatch.

Number two question

next step is start the engine and wait for it to stall.

My timing belt is missing teeth and I cannot start the car.

I need some major assitance and information and definately need to find the fuel pump eletrical connector :dsm: :laser: :talon: :dsm:
 
I didn't unhook the electrical connector on my FP when i took off my manifold nor did i start the car and wait for it to die. I just unhooked the battery. Then I went and got a towel and wrapped it around the fuel return line on the fuel rail and slowly pulled the line off. All of the fuel just soaked into the towel, no biggie. I've noticed that Haynes has a lot of unecessary steps in a most of their procedures. Don't think that it MUST be done by the book. Hope that helps
 
I know this is a semi-old thread, but I uncovered it on a search. I just wanted to clarify that pulling the return line hose off does not relieve the fuel pressure given that the return line is not pressurized. It's the supply side that is pressurized. Personally I don't bother with all that starting the car and letting it die crap either. I just wrap a rag around the most easily accessible banjo bolt and crack `er loose. The rag controls the spray, problem solved. On my 1G, the most convenient point is the 19mm banjo fitting on top of the fuel filter which I was replacing anyway. Just remember to replace your crush washers if you end up breaking loose a banjo bolt such as this.
