It seems that the most FAQ about 1g DSM's, is what to do with the MAS when you get an intake. Since this question is so popular, I think it would be a good idea to just get sort of a manual together, that way the forums won't get packed with the same question. If you have your own way of fabricating a bracket, or getting around the MAS problem..Email [email protected] I'm gonna try and take all the best ideas/examples and put them together into a "For Dummies" kinda thing. Pictures help too... Thanks.... :talon:

ok i got this covered 10 ways to sunday. there are a lot of options. here goes.

the stock mas is ok for our cars but is bulky and needs the stock air can. there are a few solutions avaliable for this delema now.

first you have the maf translator. it utalizes the gm mas sensor that is held on by the silicone couplers that hold the intake piping together. pictures of it here on page 3. thanx thunderskull

just wire it in and your good. as far as piping you can make your own out of aluminized steel exhaust tubing with mandrel bends, buy a ebay intake and put the translator on that, or you still can use the stock mas

i made my own intake on my last car out of a honda intake that cost me 20 bucks, i just used the bends off of a ebay intake because the piping was cheap and aluminum. worked good.btu the stock air can wouldnt hold the air filter tight to it. so i got a injen and a new stock can. the injen intake was great and better then the pvc intake setup you can do at home.

here is my new find (well i came across it and its been otu for a while) this cozmo racin gfilter. it houses the stock mas just like the stock air can but its screwed in the air filter, then the filter screwes to the base.this is great for making your own intake.

now use that air filter, some 3 inch bends and you can make your own cold air intake. just use the translator and extend the wires that coupler the gm maf to the stock wiring. then you can put the dan filter in the back of the car if you wanted.

the wire can be bought at a hardware store and made to fit when installed. as for intake manifolds youll never really need one on a street n/a car. the stock mani is good for 6600rpm then it starts to fall off. there is a graph posted on here. heres flow specs. bj's and magnus still increase at abotu 7600rpm. stock falls off after 6600rpm it just flat lines.

unless your pushing some serious valvetrain and cams you can stick with the stocker. itll suit a daily driver just fine. now if your runnign some serious cam you may wanna upgrade. you can also run a 75mmtb on a serious n/a motor with custom cams. it can be fitted to the stock intake mani with the use of an adapter plate edelbrock sells. im waiting for my porting bits to finish my setup up then ill post some pics.

you dont need a super strong mustang tb on a n/t as we dotn push boost. you just have to make sure you doen over extend the throttle linkage and you break the shaft.

the stock tb is 64mm and it tapers down to 60mm. this tb is used on some turbo cars pushing 400hp. some maybe more.

as for intakes sold for the n/a cars. there are a few different setups. there are ebay intake found here. cheap easy to install beginer intake.

then you can step up to a better intake liek the injen found here. this intake was on my car and performed awesome. great quality and nice gains

there are a few other intake setup floating around such as the punishment setup found here

http://www.punishmentracing-na.com/intake.html

as for intake manifolds if you seriously think you need one, and have huge cams and such the turbo intake manifolds fit and work on our cars. magnus and jm fabrications along with forrester racing,bj's,venom and such all fit our cars. list of the here. all will flow top end on our cars, you will need humongous cams to support these.

also for 125 bucks this guy will bore otu your tb to 3mm or 5mm over stock recalibrate it and re plate it. for 90 bucks hell bore it out.
