installing component speakers on 96 RS

does it sound better to mount the tweeters on the door panel or on the front dash? how long did it take you to install your components?

they will sound best if placed at ear level, like on A pillars. If thats no good, (like if you have gauges mounted there) the next best place is probably the door panel, as high up and as close to the dash as you can mount them on that slightly curved part.

really... an installer at a car stereo shop told me it'd sound best on the dash...

Oh yeah, I forgot... if you put them in the factory tweeter speaker posotion, the sound "bounces" off the glass and actually comes at you at almost ear level, so it sounds good, but not as good as a speaker at the A pillar, IMO. The problem with the factory location is that you have to get a component to fit in that spot. The problem with an A Pillar is that the space behind it is pretty tiny. There are no real problems with a door panel install, except that it doesn't sound as good as the other two.
