so i recently installed an MBC, to up the boost a little in my car, i did so and i immediatly noticed an increase in power. but now i have a problem, Everytime i start the car, something starts ticking (my best guess is the turbo) becuase the only other time it ever makes the clicking noise is when the BOV is activated during shifts or the gas pedal is released after hard acceleration, the car still pulls under boost :sneaky: but that ticking noise has got to go... my only guess is i boosted to much for the poor little 14b and messed it up :notgood: as of now it is parked wating to figure out what wrong and fix it before something else happends
any one else had this problem? or have anyinput on what it could be?

Pull off the intake and check for shaft play, just to rule out a compressor wheel that might be hitting the compressor housing.

Try to localize where the sound is coming from. Have a friend/relative start your car and stand in front of it with the hood up. Do it as many times as necessary until you can figure out exactly what part or parts might be making a noise.

My guess is the starter. My car has done the same thing since I bought it. It just clicks a little bit. Its kinda tough to get to (under the intake manifold, connected on the back side of the tranny). Its kinda annoying, but as long as it still works, I'm leaving it in.

EDIT: I didn't read what you said apparently. It would probably only do it on start up alone if it was the starter.

k well found out it's the turbo, now the decision making, maybe with alittle help from you guys i can figure it out. so here are my option.

1. Rebuild it (any one know where i can get a rebuild kit?)

2. i also have a galant VR4 that i can't drive till i get the talon sold (parents rules) swap the turbo off that and worry about the broken one later

3. buy a big 16g put it on my vr4 and then put the 14b opn the talon... now this one is only if i can get the funds, but as of now i'm thinking this would be too much

Swap the VR4's 14b onto your Talon for now. When you get the money, put a 16g on the VR4. Zoom zoom. :)

If you don't want to deal with taking the turbine housing/O2 housing off the Talon, you can just undo the V-band clamp that keeps it on the center section and just pull the center section and compressor housing off and swap in the VR4's center section and compressor housing. It might save a little time and possible broken studs and bolts. This way all you have to undo are the water and oil lines.
