1g cars deffinately do not prime untill the key is turned to start. I had to empy out two gas tanks that way within the last few months. One way to fix this is to do the rewire which would give the pump a signal as soon as the key is in the on position, which should prime the fuel system.

Mine is rewired and it still doesn't do it.

I would not use any of those plastic check valves in the last URL. They are all rated for only 125 psi and 140ºF. Just wouldn't trust that for a fuel system. I also wouldn't put ANY check valve in line with the fuel line unless it was the type that are in a fuel pump. They are simply a ball bearing with a very light spring.

Debbie thanks for posting those. I wouldn't trust a plastic one either but I like the look of the one in the first link.

ramsack, What do you mean the type that are in a fuel pump?

Also does anyone know what size the stock feed line is (standard not metric)?

I wasn't sure if the "they" you used was referring to the "type that are in a fuel pump" or to the links that Debbie had posted. The one that I am looking at is the first link, it says" This check valve is made of brass and uses a chrome check ball for a corrosion free operation."

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't be adding parts to a fuel system (and restricting flow even more) to fix something that is a fundamental safety device of a fuel system. I have no idea how to get into that check valve on top of the fuel pump, but if it's not fixable, I would be returning the pump and would keep doing so until I get a pump that functions how it should. If you have an AFPR and lose pressure, there is NO way to keep pressure held if you bleed off from the AFPR. The only solution would be to wire the pump into an ignition source that DOES NOT shut off when the starter is engaged. Anyone who taps into an ignition source that still have starting problems are probably tapping into one that drops out when the starter is engaged.

The link with the plastic ones do brass ones also you just need to look:thumb:
Specialty Manufacturing Brass Check Valves & Stainless Steel Check Valves

Also as i said they were sujestions? and they come in various diamaters so as not to restrict the fuel flow.

If you could find the right one it would help alot of people with this problem.

And one last thing please feel free to call me Eric ROFL

Well I don't know what to do. I've had a Walbro 255 for over 5 years and have never had any problems until last month. It's not like I can return it. I've had a Buschur/SX AFPR for over 5 years and I have never had any problems until last month. I rewired the fuel pump about 3 months ago and had zero problems. Everything was fine, turn the key and BAM it's running.

About a month ago I swapped out my 14b for another 14b. While doing so hit the alternator with the heat shield and caused an arch. Ever since then it has been hard to start. Because of that I feel that it is something electrical but everything I have checked is fine. The ALT fuse didn't blow, the fuse on the fuel pump power line didn't blow. Everything else works fine. I don't know what to do but it is embarrassing having to crank for 10-15 seconds all the time before it fires. I am open to any ideas.

If I got a check valve and installed it on the fuel feed line, after the filter, and I still had the same problem then I could eliminate the fuel pump as being the problem, right? That would just leave the AFPR and the injectors, right?

Well that's confusing.

I would just try a check valve to try to narrow down the problem, not as a permanent solution.

Short story. When i joined this site it was the first time i had joined a web site.

So when i was asked for a user name i thought it was kind of a pass word:confused:

So in all my wisdom i used my wifes name as i would remember it:ohdamn:
