I bought a COP (plug and play) setup a while ago, it was a 'direct plug in' to replace the OEM coil. When installed, my idle jumped from 1000 RPM to about 2000 RPM. Just to make sure it was not caused by something else, I swapped it back to OEM and the idle was perfect. Switched back to COP and idled at 2000 again. So, anyone have an idea (technical explaination please) why this occurs?I understand about the 'waste spark' operation, and I should have a CDI. I don't have one, and with my limited knowledge, not sure if a CDI would correct this. (My understanding is the CDI helps with high boost/WOT breakup and misfires.) This is just idle...
