I currently purchased and installed a Autometer cobalt Boost/Vac gauge. It came with T-fitting, sender, and 8' harness. Its also a full sweep electric gauge. Now I installed everything according to the instruction manual but it is reading the wrong boost. At idle it says i vac at 4 (not sure if this is normal) but at full boost it is saying im boosting 21 pounds! I have done no mods on this car but the gauge. I wanted to put in a boost controller but now I cant because I dont even have my guage reading the right amount of boost. I can take pictures of the install if ppl need to see it but is there any suggestions on what I should do to fix the situation? Any information is helpful. Thanks.

With a stock 1g turbo you should have 18-19 Hg of vacume at idle and boost 10 psi. 4 hg of vacume does not sound good and if so the motor is shot or you have a vacume leak somewere. You mostlikely have a vacume leak but I cannot unerstand the 20 psi of boost with no boost controler? Also check your waistgate to see if that is operating normally.
Is the gauge new or used?? Does it read 0 when the engine is off?

Where would I check for leaks? The "T" fitting? Everything is connected all the way I couldn't think of any other places it would leak. The gauge is new right out of the package. When the car is off it reads 0, when you turn on the car the gauge goes all the way to the bottom then it will hit 0 again then start to read a little vac. I believe my wastegate is functioning properly, but how would I go about checking that? Thanks.

Ok everything is right but I guess the power source isnt correct. I need to hook it up to a power source that doesn't go out when I crank the car. What should I use for a power source?

Had the same problem, here is what I did, I taped the power cable coming from my turbo timer harness, if you dont have a TT, then find the red constant 12v in your steering colum, that is where you want to tap.
