Installed B16G Turbo--slow spool and lags

Need more info. What RPM does it spool? Did you check for boost leaks?

looks like you have a 1g..

check for boost leaks... J-pipe, IC hose, turbo/manifold, intake, etc etc.

check your plugs

check your o2, make sure it's snug

exhaust leaks sometimes lead to lag

good luck.. just go everything again and make sure its tight

Thanks for the replys. The first thing I did was check for leaks, but that didn't pan out. It starts boosting around 4000 RPM, but the boost is so slow to reach full range (10 psi). It just feels like it is dragging ass.

I haven't put on my new dp yet--could the problem be that there is too much back pressure for the stock dp?

You almost certainly have a boost leak.

Spool should be similar to the 14b with a good increase in top end power. The downpipe won't limit a 16g any more than it would a 14b on the low end.

check and make sure the turbo is getting oil. Pull the reurn line and crank the car up for a minute and make sure oil is coming out.

I checked the oil flow, and that was fine. I pulled the exhaust manifold and found a hairline crack on the bottomo of it. I guess this might be the problem, but when I did the boost leak test based on the vfaq, everything appeared fine.

I'm going to put on the DP this weekend, and try to get a 2G ported exhaust manifold next week sometime. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

May I ask what "ported" means? I hear it all the time but can't figure out what exactly it means.

Ported means that some of the metal casing is shaved out, making the openings wider, therefore, allowing more air (or exhaust) to flow through.

I noticed last night that the oil feed line, where it taps into the valve cover, was leaking. One of the crush washers is missing (must have fallen off when I was installing and I can't find it anywhere). Anyone know where I can get some more of these washers?
