installed autometer temp gauge, high reading

I just installed an autometer temperature gauge and the readings are really really high... as in the needle is pegged at 250. Now I just plugged it into the factory probe instead of using the one that came with the gauge. It got me real scared... I even pulled over and plugged in the logger to check (on my brand new OEM temp to ECU sender) and it was reading perfectly. So, is it because I am running it off the factory probe? Will the autometer probe fit in the factory probe's hole? Thanks.

I just thought I would post the answer to my own question... yes, you need to use the probe that comes with the gauge. The one from autometer just threads right in the same hole as the stock one. Just thought I would post this here incase someone else has the same question.
