Got a quick question ... are any of these bored throttle bodies on ebay worth it? Im looking at a bored out TB. I mean its the stocker bored to 55mm, is that a good thing? You lose the venturi effect so do these really increase hp or airflow any dramatic amount? Im asking because since Im boosted it seems to me that a greater opening may help me more, allowing more to be supplied quicker. Am I wrong? Am I making something simple too complex?

Is bored just as good as an aftermarket larger TB? Or capable of giving me any performance addition at all?

Honestly all I need is the TPS sensor on this TB but its bored out to 55mm as well so Im wondering if this will actually benefit me? Opinions are greatly appreciated, and maybe facts as well! :thumb:

Thanks all!

I did a jeep tb convrsion and bored it to 60mm and it helped so by logic it should help you out. Can't speak bout boosted expirience since I'm still NA.Hope this helps.peace.

Thanks for the reply speedy, I think I may go ahead and get the TB then. I would have rather had the 60mm like youve got but Ive heard that takes a good deal of modding to get a fit. I think down the line I will take it up but for right now I'll just get a replacement. Kinda broke, .

I went from stock to the 60mm jeep TB, it had more torque and more top end. But you then you had to deal with it idiling at 1500 rpms with people sitting next to you at the light giving you the "what the hell is wrong with this moron" look.

So I ripped the jeep TB off and went back stock, kinda of a shock to the system but well worth being rid of the idle problem. So then being a pro at getting the upper intake on and off at this point I sent it off to one of those "port and polish+we will podercoat the thing for 60 bucks" places on ebay.

I got it back like two weeks later with the absolute saddest excuse for powder coating I have ever seen. But the TB looked sweet, I had another factory one sitting next to it and all I think was This is going to have to make one mother of a difference.

Wrong. No noticeable difference whatsoever. If there was it was pretty much like the difference between really bad watered down gas and really good gas.

Now im 60 some bucks poorer, it looks like crap and it runs exactly the same. There are other things that are more bang for the buck out there.

Modern Performance sells 60mm TB's and they ROCK. I put it on and ported my Intake Manifold when I did. Lots more power! Deffinatly worth it. 55mm would be good, but not as good as 60mm. I'm glad I have the 60mm now that I'm running boost
