In the market for a new shift knob

I feel so ashamed I bought the shift knob at a local store and its made by apc :-( it does fit very nice and look clean though.

if ur wondering why I got it, because I didnt even have a shift knob and I will order my new Sparco one when I got xtra flow

Forget which momo it is but thats the one I have. I had the momo race before and that SOB got hot in the summer and freezing in the winter. Didnt mind the cold, hated the burning sensation in the summer.

No doubt dude. My current aluminum one get so hot in the summer I have to put on my gloves just to grab it.

Yup, trust with short throw shifter, symb. bushings. I did have a sparco unit but it did not screw on like the trust unit and I could not find a sparco one that was a screw on-type.

I think they call them counter-balance types. basically more weight allows greater momentum on a short throw to slam into gear and aid with shifting speed?

I got a real cf knob for $29 from here I cut the screw on plastic adapter in half so the shifter would thread up through the adapter allowing it to go up inside the knob so it sits lower.

Hey Arctic Tsi, I see you have the same stock cd player, does yours play CD-Rs? Mine will if I use the expensive CDrs like Maxells made for music but not if I use a cheap Imation CDR disk or cheap equivalent. Just wondering if my player is bad or what, Thanks.

i am also looking at the combat shift knob john. i like the silver or the carbon fiber. im also going to go with a carbon fiber shift boot. another momo knob i like is this one. the race air either the alum one...

Mine plays all the cd-r's I've ever made, But i do notice on some of the disc I have made that some songs on the disc dont play. I think when I make them I'm not looking at the kb/sec of the song. For example if it is a super audio cd ripped song I think a conventional cd player might have trouble with those?

Back on topic: In addition to heavier shift knobs adding more heft to the shift action, I found that these brass bushings I got add a nice thunk to the shift. They wiegh Id say a pound maybe (geussing), they have some mass to them though compared to the stock rubber ones. They are for the end of the cables at the trans. I need a shift knob now... My aftermarket one is crap 3 screw on side one, and it sucks.. always is loose.. Have the stock one back on there.. Bleh, gotta look around and find a good screw-on type..

Thanks darat, for now I cant afford another car payment so between the 1G and a beater Olds Achieva I have to make do. I want to feel how a big16g feels in her anyway...soon. Maybe in a year when the wifes Caravan is paid off I will think about another car. I saw a black SRT4 and it looks much better than yellow, the brakes are painted red which I didnt notice before. Or maybe a used EVO in 3 years, those are so sweet in person....drool.... Freehold Mitsu is selling them at real sticker price--@$30,000.

i too am looking to replace the knob but when i did it looked like a damm bus shifter ??? did you guys cut yours down ? die grinder ?

Anyone have one of those rice lighted shifters that they sell on Ebay for like 20$? I was thinking of getting one of those, haha.. Cant beat the price and they do look sorta nice, in a rice way . Would get compliments from passangers though, and it could compliment my whole blue light effect i want in my interiior at some point in this cars lifetime..
