Does any place make in car shifter bushings for the cables? I haven't been able to find any, I think thats what I need to make it so my shifter isnt so sloppy. Ive got the under hood ones and the shifter plate bushings and the new rod the goes between the shifter itself. Another thing I can't get my shifter spring set right I cant wind it up in any direction its impossible.

Ahh you mean the 4 rubber bushings that go on the shifter plate. Yes there is a place that makes those, they are cheap, I cant remember exactly where but there is. Same place that sells the roller blade bearings for the under hood kit.

Also its not hard to just go buy washers and a step drill bit and make your own in a hour, thats what I did with mine and it makes a huge difference.

I think he is refering to the bushing that holds the shifter cable to the bottom of the shifter. I would think the same principle would apply to all the others if you could find some kind of bearing that would fit in there or use some washers to get rid of the excess slack. I've got the shifter plate and under the hood bushings as well as some washers to take the side to side slack out of the shifter and it feels very tight.

That's not what he's talking about. He said he already has the shifter plate bushings.

Do you think you might be able to post a pic of where you put those? I'm getting a little bit of side to side slack that I want to eliminate too.

I did some more tweaking on it. it sits stiffer now but when in 3rd 4th and 5th i can move the shifter to the right a good distance. Im also having trouble getting into reversecause of this. It goes into 4th unless i slam the shifter all the way to the left then back to the right then it will go in reverse. It is very odd i cant figure out what I didnt put back in. Also the shifter will snap back to the center when pushed to the right. But when pushed to the left it just stays.

have you done anything out at the trans? if you have the reverse light switch out and forget the washer when you put it back it makes it hard to get into reverse.

Yes I just a put a used trans in. I took out my reverse light switch and switched it with the one that was in trans I bought.

Well that wasnt it:( I pulled out my reverse light and there was a washer on it,I went ahead and put another washer on there. I still have to move the shifter all the way to the left and then back to the right to go in reverse.

Well now I cant get it into reverse or 5th....:( I tried adjusting the linkage putting it neutral and taking off the left cable for side to side adjustment I believe. The linkage doesnt like to go forward all the way it feels like something is blocking it, its like soft when pushing against what ever it is. Could putting the wrong bolts to bolt up the transmission cause this? Like to long of bolt for the front of the trans? I looked under the hood and nothing is in teh way of the linkage it just doesnt want to go down like it should. Could this be an internal problem? If so could it be fixed easily?

I know im not suppose to bump my own thread but i need help guys :( What would cause my transmission to no want to let my linkage go forward?
