Paint - $1,000 and up?
body kit - $700 and up?
wheels - $800?
Turbo and all necessary items to complete turbo swap - $1200?

Total - $3,700 or more?

You got...

The looks.
The turbo.
And all wheel drive.

You decide?

Do it. The 96 is newer and do I even need to remind you that its turbo AWD and that your current car is n/a fwd. If your planning on modding then choose the AWD because it will be easier to see results then in your GS. BTW $3800 isn't that bad of a price. Just make sure to give it a good look for problems before you buy.

what about the mile difference and also if someone beat the shit out of the engine... and there lots of body kits available for the talon and things... i have a set of 18 inch motegis but they are 4 bolt and don't fit my eclipse so.... yeah and also i have a ractice race muffler that i got for 50 bucks ....more opinions?

The car needs to be inspected. If you can't do it, then pay to have the thrust clearance on the crank measured. If the motor is in good shape, it's a big upgrade over your present car.

Regardless if the motor is wasted, it's a 96 Talon TSi AWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have it inspected and work that person down on price.
Have a local dsm'er go with you to look at it if you don't know what to look for.

so most likely i would be best off with the talon ... about how much horse power is this thing going to be kicking... will it be able to hold up to my friends all stock 98 mustang and my other firends 96 z26 beretta?

Bone stock, 210hp and 214ft*lbs

K&N intake
1g BOV
MBC set to 15psi
Fuel Pump re-wire
IC Piping
Down Pipe
Cat-back

I'd say that's good for at least 260hp at the crank, if not more....
Don't even sweat the Berreta.... and the 98 mousetang.....
Either way, you'd be an AWD, you're launches would put car lengths within the first 100ft in drag race....

so i guess im going to go wiht the talon ha thanks for all your help and everything but the last question is... top speed?

the guy is now offering me 5,000 is it worth it? it needs new back bearings.... also isan't awd harder to fix and shit if you run into problems... and it does have 105,000 miles on it

no see i fell in love with the car the interior is in great condition power everything including sun roof everything is awesome leather i want it real bad i just gotta get the cash and rigaht now i don;at know 5,000 seems kinda steep

$5,000 is not bad if the car is in good shape mechanically. Obviously it's in good shape physically. Personally (and I hope I don't offend anyone ;) ) I don't see the point of a n/t DSM.

I say save up if you have to and go for it. Or put what you have down and finance the rest. If you stay with the n/t car, you will spend the rest of your life and lots of money and headaches trying to make it half as good as the GSX!

Definatelt go with the tsi, specially' if you want a body kit. Good luck finding one for a 91 n/t. I have a 93 tsi and im still trying to find a lo-profile style kit for mine. Not that important anyhow. I may have missed something somewhere in the post but, why dont you sell the n/t so you can get the tsi, and wasnt the initial price $3800? I say go tsi man.

How the hell did that happen? Tell him to walk 'till his hat floats.

Good luck finding another with less than 100K on it.

^^^^^^AGREEED!!! Definatly ask this prick how he can sleep at night jacking up the price on a TSi w/ trouble on a goodhearted DSM'er  . Id pull the crappy cast iron stock exhaust manifold off the n/t and throw it at him!! (they stock ain't good for much else IMO anyway  ) Find out what this guys deal is definately man. Good luck.
