Import Wars #1 @ GLD

My wife and I went to GLD for the first Import Wars this past Sunday. There was quite the turnout from the DSM/Evo crowd, as well as the SRT4 and Honda groups.

I'm pretty sure I got pics of most of the DSM's and some of the Evo's. Here are a few. If I happened to miss your car, I apologize. If you don't see a pic of your car here, let me know what your car looks like and I'll see if I got a pic of it on my computer but not uploaded.

It was a very good day at the track: perfect sunny weather, a good crowd, no DSM casualties on the track, and it looked like most people got at least a few runs in. Congrats to everyone. I hope to see everyone there again soon.

I was there! Not in the talon, I just hung around the AMS crew while they prepped cars and watched some runs..Besides a couple cars, I was not impressed with some of the times...That 1g with full hoosiers was running high 11's, Scotts 2g auto was having nitrous issues and then that champange 1g with the huge front mount was running like 15's...

I agree, the times most cars were running did seem pretty high. I was most surprised by the Evo's that were there and running 14's. But it's early in the year, so I'm sure everything will improve over the next few months.

Hmmm...I did ok, considering it was my first shakedown pass on slicks, on only 24psi of boost.

10.8 @ 137 with a horrid 1.8 60' from a too-low 2-step.

I see you got me on the return road (pic #4)

Yeah, my wife sent me for something to drink and when I was coming up the stairs, you were launching, so I wasn't to my camera yet. I watched you run a 10.8, headed up the stairs and snapped the pic of you coming back. I did get a video of your next run (11.1?), so if you want that, let me know. The quality isn't all that great, considering it's just a digital camera with video capability, and I couldn't zoom in after I hit Record, so the time and speed are barely legible.

No, I am good, but thank you for the offer... The 11.1 will only show that I completely flooded the engine from the anti-lag at the line through 1st and 2nd, and then finally got going after that. It was a 11.1 @ 132.

The 10.8 @ 137 was 24psi, 5500rpm 2-step, no anti-lag, preloading the car on the launch. All in all, it was a slow ass launch, and it could have been executed much better. No wheel spin with the tires at 19psi.

I hope to do better next time, but I am happy that my first shakedown pass for the year was at least a 10 second pass, and not a flatbed towtruck pass.

Hopefully I can pull at least 3 tenths off of my 60', and pull another 7-8 tenths in the 1/4 mile with around a 142-145mph traps.
