my hands and forearm has about 30 small cuts from changing tranny fluid (the drain & fill plug was a PITA) installed a pillar with gauges, tried to swap out my TB, but couldn't because one coolant line on the TB was hitting the fuel rail adapter thing.
if im going to relieve my fuel, might aswell change the fuel filter aswell. now my question is that how do i relieve my gas for a 1g.
1. go the trunk and unhook the harness (haven't looked on where it is on my car
2. i read somewhere online i think it was Plymouthlaser.com that there was a harness under my fuel filter.

i have a 1990 talon if that matters. there's a couple of difference from 1990 to 91-94.
thanks in advance again.

I have never once releaved fuel pressure on a 1g. Crack the line loose on top of the fuel filter, hold a rag over it if your worried.

I always just did it by just busting lose the top line on the fuel filter. But I always had a rag nearby to wipe it all up.

so when you changed your fuel filter you basically just unhooked the top part and waited for all the gas to pour out. im going to wear long sleeved gloves if i do this, if gas spills on me my cuts will BURN like a ****** LOL. well i guess thats the way to do it. thanks guys.

Run it almost out of gas if you're worried, there is a drain plug on our gas tanks.

There's not that much fuel pressure, it just kinda squirts out for a little bit.

Most of the time the car has been sitting overnight or longer and the pressure has already dropped.
When I have to relieve the pressure I disconnect the power to the pump under the rear seat on the 1G FWD or drivers side rear hatch floor on a 1G AWD and then start the car.

i think i will disconnect the power to the pump. i just want my fingers and hangs to burn if the gas gets on me. i literary have countless of small cuts hahaha. i didn't even notice it until i went to work yesterday and dipped my hand in sanitizer LOL. thanks.

I never relieve pressure. Liquid can't be compressed so pressure relieves pretty fast and what pours out will happen no matter if there is pressure or not. I also just let it drain wherever because it will just evaporate.

Ya it should be good enough. In most industries of the world there is one company that makes everything and labels them for different brands.

If you have never changed a 1G DSM Fuel Filter make sure you have the right size flare/line wrench for the fuel line fitting and make sure to put one wrench on the fuel line fitting and another on the filter fitting so that when the squeeze the two wrenches it unthreads. If you just start trying to remove the line fitting you can twist and kink the fuel line. Make sure you remember to pick up two new copper crush washers for the top banjo fitting when you get the filter.

Take the battery tray and support out of the car so you can get at the filter and have room to work
