So I've made possibly the biggest mistake ever on my car. I was using a plastic bottle cap to block the open recirculation tube on the intake part of the car. So when I finially found a good recirculation tube I put it on and forgot to take out the bottle cap. I got into boost once and my car stalled and puttered home ( I was real close and fortunately a coupler blew off my FMIC) So I thought it was just the blow coupler that was causing the problems till I rembered that I left the cap in the intake tube. So I took off the turbo inlet pipe and saw this. http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/3849/####gl4.jpg
Now obviously the turbo is gone but I was wondering if the plastic cap has probally gotten into my engine and ruined that as well. Thanks for any help or advice.

I can't see the picture because it just links to imageshack's main page. I highly doubt anything got into your engine, it would have to go through the intercooler and that's not very likely.

Start by taking that piping off and see whats stuck in there. The engine most likely died because you blew the coupler.

That's my optomistic opinion.:thumb:

Your probably all set as far as the motor goes. The shedded bottle cap pieces are probably in the inlet side of your intercooler. Pop the inlet pipe to the ic off and see if the cap pieces are there.

I've dropped a rubber gromet right inside one of my cylinders before. I freaked!!
Solution? I just let it run for a few min, it smoked and whatnot, but after i beat the piss out of it for a good run up a hill near my house no symtoms were present and I still have perfect compression.

Sorry about your turbo. The first thing I'd check is the FMIC and well if it made it past that (unlikely), and then into your engine, the chances are it would melt/crush/melt some more before it cause any serious damage.
It'd be hard to know for sure though. Let us know what happens!

EDIT: holy im a slow poster

No, now its just a red x.

The concern here isn't the plastic getting into the motor, but peices of the compressor blades. Again, this is highly unlikely, but there is a chance. Hard to say cause I can't see what the turbo looks like.:p

ROFL ROFL ROFL

Why didn't I think of that... it works now.

Yes sir that turbo is all gone.:notgood: I was expecting to see no blades at all though, it isn't too bad. I wouldn't worry about the motor.
