I've had a few threads about suspension lately and I've realized I'm totally broke:p

I have ~$650 to do the job including camber stuff and an alignment. Saving an extra 50 bones is no biggie either though.

I've decided to get some Illumina's off eBay for around $365, now all I need is springs. I don't want a huge drop cause then I wont be able to drive anywhere (my own driveway included).

I was looking at ProKits because they're popular and have the perfect drop. However, they're over $220 everywhere.
I need something that would be an equal replacement but for cheaper. Does this animal exist?

Thanks.

H&R OE Sports. Yes, they say FWD, but they work fine on an AWD. You won't need a front camber kit. Anything between 1/8" and 1/4" of spacers in the rear will do it. Then get an alignment.

(How many time do I have to post this?)

I've seen you post that a few times now, but after a search it's really hard to find specific info since the words are too short for the search.

Anyways, they have a 1" drop on the FWD, how much on the AWD?
What are the spring rates? do you know?
What spring rates should I shoot for? I don't autocross and I MIGHT go to the track just to see if I have any fun. It's my daily driver.
Also does anyone have a source that is actually cheaper? I googled about 10 vendors and every single one was selling these springs for more than the ProKits...completely defeating the purpose.

Thanks again.

Please note that I suggested H&R OE Sports, not H&R Sports. Much less drop, but the same 430/260 rates. They go hand-in-hand with OTS (not revalved) Koni Sports.

Yes they cost more than ProKits. But remember those Loreal ads on TV?

Could always go with the Tokico ILK setup which is their lower springs & illumina shock combo. If I recall I paid $425-$450 for the combo off ebay, that was about years ago. This setup works great as the 2 pieces were designed to work with each other. I think they give the perfect ride height and stance. Take a look at my gallery for ride height pics.

You have 18" rims though. That setup on a 16-17" may be lower correct?

Don't think so, since rim size doesn't actually change the diameter of your wheels (rim + tires).

A kind member Pm'ed me this link today.

looks like a good setup but I assume those s-tech springs aren't for AWD? I know theose illumina's aren't - they're for the FWD.

Also I'd gladly get the AWD illumina kit if the drop wasn't so severe. I'm afraid going 1.75in.-2in. is just way to low.

Thoughts?

EDIT: I got a chance to test drive a Brand new Eclipse Spyder GT today! It's no DSM and I think I could take it in a 1/4mile race.. but thats just not what the car is for. It was very nice riding, good power and great feel. Very luxurious!

No, they will be the same size or should I say they "should" be the same over all diameter. When you go up in rim size vs the stock size rim you also or are supposed to go with a lower profile tire to keep the same over all diameter. As for the drop on the Tokico, I don't think its to low. They do say they awd is .25" more vs the fwd but I dont think this would be very noticeable. I don't have issues getting into most places. Some of the larger speed bumps I avoid but I can take pretty steep inclines, just have to take it on an angle. Just don't drive it like your in a jacked up stock height riding car.

Tein does make nice springs but if I recall correctly they only make springs for fwd's, not the awd's for some reason.
