I recently dropped a cyclone motor in my 1993 TSI. The timing is perfect the valves cant possibly be bent, the starter and alternator are mint and the car is getting fuel and spark. I swapped the ECUs from usdm to jdm. The car cranks and puffs out black smoke but will not run. I think I have to do the ignition timing but im not sure how to do this when the car isnt running.

Pull the CAS (opposite side of the cam gears), and turn the position sensor 180 degrees. It's at the end of the intake cam.

At tdc im getting 5 volts from the tdc output and zero volts a crank angle sensor. Is this correct?
