ive got a 1g 6 bolt go a problem

ok heres the deal.

On a cold start such as in the mornings it takes about 2 minutes to get the car started. At first it just turns over without acting like its gonna start. After a few tries it starts to act like its gonna start. and then eventually it starts right up like no problem.

however, the idle wanders back and forth between probably 3500 and like 200 for a few seconds, then eventually the idle smooths out and the car sounds fine,

also once the car smooths itself out, the cel comes on.

Now im thinkin that it has something to do with a vaccum leak but ive check a few times over but its nothing.

help me out here, any suggestions?

Thx:laser:

This may sound obvious, but get your check engine light checked so you can find the problem. Check your plugs and wires to make sure your getting proper spark. Make sure your timing is correct (hasn't jumped and is correct via the CAS). If your timing is off, it can cause it not to start. Once it starts, does it studder when you try to drive it, or is it completely smooth. Read the CEL and post back. (Since autozone/advance doesn't do OBD1, I use the buzzer method - vfaq.)

Well ive check my spark plug and wires, seems like no problem there. Checked timing, seems ok.

now once the car smooths the idle out, the idle is pretty smooth it tends to miss slightly every so often

idk how to do a cel check. you pointed me towards vfaq but im not sure where to find the article
