So I've been wanting to update my ignition system so Ive been trying to reaserch, the MSD coil pack. But one issue it states that its only for 92 and up, but whats confussing is all the 4g63's are the same, so would I be able to use the MSD Ignition coil on my 91' talon?

If I were you I wouldn't even mess with an MSD coilpack. The stock coilpack for our cars is more than capable of delivering enough spark. If you want to upgrade your ignition system, you should look into a coil on plug setup with a Dynatek ARC-2 ignition amplifier.

I believe it will still work, if they are referring to only 7 bolt motors only they should not have mention a 92 and up. some 92's are still 6bolt and you got to take that into a consideration.

from 90-94 all the coil pack are the same. form 95+ are different.

The 1990 model year had a different coil pack than the rest of the 1Gs, but you are correct otherwise. If it works for '92-'94 1Gs, it should work for a '91.

1990 coils are larger by a tad bit, 91-99 are all identical. Now the wiring, brackets, etc. are all different in 1990, 91-94, and 95-99. I didn't even know MSD made a coil for the 4g63. I know they make one for the 420a. Stock coils are just fine, and if one runs out of juice with a stock ignition system then a CDI box is the best thing to use to upgrade.

^^^^^ They do, I work for O'Reilly auto parts and I was looking thru the MSD catolog the other day and saw they offered a coil pack for the 4G63, but it said it was only for the 92-94's and thats what confused me and made me start this thread

not dsm but 3000gts have issues with the msd coils and the ignition is very close between the 2 other than the 3000gt having 1 xtra coil

MSD having a 4G63 coil pack is news to me as well. Do you have a link to it?

I question as to why you are wanting to upgrade your stock ignition system though. As wkmitsu stated the stock DSM ignition is very, very capable. The DSM ignition can handle over 500 hp stock and is even considered an upgrade for EVOs. Personally I would spend my money elsewhere.
