Ignition coil pack - Only one plug connects

We today I was reinstalling my new motor from a swap. I retained the old ignition coil pack but for some reason only the top connector plug (square one) connects. The other ne (rectangular one) doesn't seem to fit on the second connector. To be honest I don't remember if the rectangular one was ever connected. Is it possible for the car to run like this? I know on the other coil pack it only had one connector (I believe it was from a 91 Talon). Anyhow, can anybody give me some input?

Can somebody please help me out here. I have just built my motor and am itching to fire it up. I think some of you know the feeling. I just don't want to risk messing anything up

Your question isn't making much sense. The coil pack should have either a rectangular four pin connector (90 style) or a triangular 3 pin connector (91+ style) as shown at http://www.ecanfix.com/~mdhamilton/images/1990ignition/IMAGE001.jpg

How about some pictures of the connectors in question

Sorry, I am speaking about the ignition module (power transistor I believe). Pictured on the left of the coil.

The power transistor module is also different between 90 and 91+ There is 1 less pin on the 90 PTM. The pin for the tach signal moved from the coil pack to the power transistor module in 91.

Okay, so is it possible that it had been disconnected when I purchased the car and the car to still have functioned?

Okay I looked at the diagram and answered my own question. I will figure out the connector issue when I get home. Thanks
