If you were to buy a diesel truck which one and why?

dang trannys that weak???

Yep. The Cummins engine will make huge power with bolt ons and NEVER break down, but you'll be doing trannys and driveshaft u-joints a lot.

For example, I know a guy who put on 1 million kms without ever touching the Cummins, but went through five trannys.

Do not buy Banks please what ever you do, do not buy Banks you are paying for mediocre performance. Save a few extra dollars and buy you a Smarty tuner (for Cummins) EFI tuner (for Duramax) and an Edge (for Powerstroke).

While those do make more power, perhaps more than a Banks, but the Banks is better quality. Whereas all the others just dump more fuel into the engine to make more power, the Banks system makes more power by making the most of the fuel put into the engine. Its up to you.

we have all three on our car lot... i prefer the Duramax over the Cummins because the GM is a lot more comfortable and the fit and finish is much better... The Fords are plaqued with issues

What year of trucks? That makes all the difference.

dodge ram with the cummins bro if u want power quick and like to go sideways thats the truck dude... with programmer and a few other cheep mods your well on ## way to 1100 hp dude. and yes a ford body and frame with a cummins and an allison transmition ULTIMATE TRUCK BY FAR!!!!!!

I used to work for TS Performance out of Bowling Green KY. From my knowledge of the diesels of that era (bout 10 yrs ago) which would be what your budget would allow, I would say the 7.3 all day long. The boss (Dennis Perry) had several that were just plain abused with no issues. His first 7.3 saw 45psi daily for longer than it should before the head gasket blew. 45 freaking psi.

Well personally i have an f250 with the 7.3 powerstroke and ive had cummins -- being im a dealer and i move a lot of cars and trucks - any diesel can be good or have short comings - fords are good if you get the 7.3 - any cucmmins motor is good but the trucks themselfs have the most problems out of the big 3 - and duramaxes are badass all around - depends on what you want to do with it - i can tell you from experience that front ends need rebuilt on the dodges more often and they have rear end and auto tranny problems also - i see them come through the auctions all the time with problems - more than fords and chevys together - if your buying used just check it over real good and take a long drive look at EVERYTHING

youll be happy with whatever you get man, just go for the best deal thats available condition and pricewise. each truck has its nutswingers and pros and cons but you cant go wrong with any of them. im completely surrounded by diesels of each kind and all of the owners love their own rig. just go drive one of each and see which you like the best.

if youre gettin an auto just keep the box down on a reasonable level and do your research on which brands. banks and ats just happen to have the best marketing teams.
