If its not one thing, it's another. Vibration.

So I'm trying to get my freaking car in decent mechanical condition before I start modding it, and no sooner do I get one thing accomplished, two more things spring up. My latest thing is a heavy vibration at highway speeds. I just noticed it driving last night in the rain, but it could have been doing this for a little while. I havn't owned the car long.

I know some common causes for vibration are tire pressures incorrect, uneven tire wear, wheel unbalanced, or alingment settings. Other than tire pressure (they are correct), is there anything else [free] I should check before I take my car to townfair for the balancing and alingment? The car is not making any strange noises and the car pulls straight. The steering wheel doesn't vibrate. If I lift the rear and shake the tire it doesn't really move. My pads look low in the back so I'll be changing them this w/e but I don't think that would cause the problems I'm having.

After air pressure, check the alignment, treadware etc. Take it somewhere and have them align it. Start with that. After that, if it still does it, you can look into other issues. Start simple and work up....

check for messed up tires.. i had crap tires when i bought my car used and just recently had to replace all 4 b/c they were like bubbling...
