Calgary,
Previously i had really bad idle surge from 1200-1500rpm as soon as the car warmed up. My mechanic said he thought the timing belt might have jumped a tooth. But i didn't think so. The car has always had a bit of a misfire. Anyways, today i played around with the BISS screw, then i unplugged the idle switch and the surge basically went away, i plugged it back in, it would start to surge again. So i left it unplugged then got my idle to about 800 rpm, cuz it still has that miss. The longer i let it run and then took it for a drive it did not surge again with the idle switch unplugged. Except now it idles at only -8 and i can only pull 5 lbs of boost. It used to idle and cruise at around -20 and boost to like, well only 7 psi. Fairly loud noise under the car at full boost and can hear at idle sometimes, kinda vibrate/rattle, whole car feels it, i swear it's coming from around the downpipe (3" RnR) Exhaust really stinks too. Can anybody tell me what i should do next?

i had the same problem when i put in my new motor...it would surge once it was warmed up from 1200 to 1500. i tightened the biss screw a bunch and it smoothed out. weird thing is that it idles fine and if i unplug my aic, nothing changes at all? oh well...on initial cold startup it does idle a little rough, that might be due to my fiav blockoff but it smooths out after about 30sec.

So does this mean i need a new idle switch or what? Why did this affect the vac and boost? i think the miss is because my timing might have jumped, mechanic said there was oil around the timing belt, which likely caused the belt to slip. i know i have to replace everything in there, and i don't want to drive the car right now, cuz the last thing i need is bent valves. tested negative for boost leaks, but could the downpipe be loose or busted somewhere causing the vibration and noise under the car? If my idle switch is the problem with the surge, where can i buy one? Plz help a newb...thanx!

theres so many different things that can cause idle surge..i would suggest first getting your timing checked out and do what you need to with that first.

Ok, no...listen, the timing belt is done, that shyt was not a problem. i said i unplugged the idle switch and the surge went away. this has to mean something is wrong with it. i wasn't asking whats wrong, i was saying i may have found the surge problem, and wondering what i should do next. can anybody with any knowledge in this area help me out? this is not about timing, it's about idle surge. is that BUCK dude anywhere around? he knows his shyt, i need someone who knows what they're talking about here. thank you again...
