Hello my name is james and i have a problem here it is i have a 99 eclipse gs i just put a motor together and put it in it ran good for a while but now it will fire up but if u dont give it any gas it will die and if i hold the gas down it will only rev up to 4000 rpms and then bounces between 3 and 4 and if i let off the gas it will die i have cleaned the egr valve intake and throttle body but it still does this please help me thanks James :dsm:

Firing problem maybe? I suppose you are using the stock ECU to run the car right? Check your timing, it really sounds like the car needs a tune.

If you're getting fuel and spark, I would try swapping the ECU with a known working unit. You might also want to verify that the firing order is correct and that the MAF isn't unplugged for some crazy reason. I think we've all done that a few times.

Keep us posted,

Andy

problem solved it was the map sensor runs great now

Good job in fixing it yourself and sticking with it instead of giving up.

I love happy endings!

hehe we don't have a MAF sensor on the 420a. easy mistake for a 4g63 owner just a heads up bro.

Aww man, there goes my reputation! I actually used to have a GS, but I never really paid attention to that stuff back then.

Thanks for setting me straight,

Andy
