Under my car and noticed this on my transmission. Drivers side, on the front of the trans. It seems to be leaking fluid....

Pull the white boot back on the slave cylinder and see if fluid is present. If there is it's time to either rebuild or change the slave cylinder. If your doing that might as well change the clutch master cylinder at the same time. If fluid is coming through the clutch fork boot, you could be looking at a very leaky rear main seal. Or possible the input shaft seal on the trans right behind the throw out bearing. My suggestion figure this leak out fast before it gets worse. If you start to get alot of fluid on the clutch it will start to slip bad. Or if your slave leaks out all the fluid you will have no clutch peddle.

thanks for the info. I am WELL aware that my rear main is leaking... LOL. So that is just oil coming out of that boot then?

Yeah if your rear main seal is leaking it can weep out of the whole for the clutch fork and cover your slave cyl.

ok so oil coming out of that is just a by-product of my rear main leaking, not the trans leaking or anything? main worries here are oil on the clutch?

after re-reading the post, i was refering to the black boot that goes into the trans, not the slave cylinder. thanks again.

Like vr4x4 said, it could be the rear main seal or the slave could also be leaking fluid. Can you tell if the fluid is brake or oil? The brake fluid has a very distinct smell and texture.
