After suffering much ridule for not recognizing my new Eclipse had no intake, I got a nice one and today I drove the what looked like2 inches of water and it was more like 2 feet of water .....

Now my car won't start .... I had to push myself out the the concave that I had driven into..... I waited like 5 minutes and it seemed like it wanted to start but I was on lunch break and took a cab back to work ( 10 blocks away)

I saw that the intake filter was wet and I touched it and it def. took a dunk in the water ....

Any chance that letting it dry out for a few more hours will get the car started again? ( it is now a warm 80 degree day in miami and this happened at 3:30 PM EST and I get done work at 8 PM )

Eibach and tokico maybe from what i have been reading here ....

thats what I " thought " this forum was for ... not smart comments that are not helpful .....

umm for those of u tellin him to swap a 4g63 in there ...hes got a n/t meaning chrystlre 420 engine....its compleetely backwards from the mitsu engine....it'd cost a hell of a lot to swap it if he did

Hey man, definitely don't be discouraged from modding your car just because you lack the knowledge. I bought my TSi in January, knowing virtually nothing about cars (except the power potential in these particular ones). I also knew virtually nothing about mechanics or electronics. By now, I've swapped intake and exhaust myself, done a turbo swap, gauges, boost controller, interior dash LED and accent lighting conversions, stereo/amp/speakers install, etc. It's not a lot compared to some of these guys, but it just goes to show you that anyone can learn.

These forums are a great resource for anyone, so definitely read up, find some stuff you want to do, and see if you can't find out how to do it yourself. If you have the tools, its TONS cheaper (most expensive party ou ever pay at a mechanic is labor), and you learn a bunch along the way.

As far as what mods you should do next, I know nothing about performance mods for the N/T cars, but you mentioned you picked up the eclipse for "style" points. I can relate. I drove a two-tone 84 suburban before mine. Ugh. One thing that's pretty cool style-wise is to rewire all the lights in your dash with blue LED's. It gets you comfortable with electronics, helps overcome your fear of taking apart the car, and if you do it with any guidance (and luck) you can come out relatively cheap. It was hella expensive for me, but only because I went through 2 or 3 full sets of LED's until I found a color I truly liked. And I also wired everything else up in the car to be lit (switch controlled), including rear speakers, door pockets and handles, under-dash/seats, gauges, etc - and made a glowing switch box for it.

It helps make your car unique, its only borderline ricey (I like creature comforts inside the car, and 100% stock exterior - avoid cops, images of ricers, etc, while letting girls (and guys) rave about how cool the car is (when they are sitting in it)).

Anyways, that one I could help you on, or the sound-system upgrades... other than that I guess hit up the N/T performance forums! But in general, from my limited knowledge on the subject, I would hardly waste time trying to upgrade performance for your car in the way of hp... you'll spend a lot for so little gains. Just go for suspension.

IM or email me if you need anything.

Ok thanks jesterbot,

I almost never post here anymore because comments like the one that proceeded yours.

I am no means a car techie and never profess to have an intimate or even basic knowledge of cars but I thought this was a place to learn and ask question without being ridiculed... people like you and a few other make it that .....

I can only guess how many other people do not post because of negative comments that few people place because the must drive some pleasure in roasting people people ....

Well Poppy You are definatly lucky that things turned out some what ok for the car. It could have been alot worse and maybe even a new engine. Later on down the road if people tell you to swat the 420a motor with the 4g63 dont do it, the motor is flipped the other way and it does take alot more money to swat in that motor. it would be almost as cheap to just buy a gst.

Question for you to clear some things up, From your posts and your name i get the idea that you are a girl right? now im not saying girls dont know about cars you just said that you will leave the modifying up to the guys. if im wrong im sorry. The reason i ask is because some people on this board need to understand that most guys are into cars from an early age while not all girls are. this is one of the reasons she might not be so mechanically inclined. Not to say girls cant be, because i know some girls that are definatly more mechanically inclined than myself.

Anyways if you want some opinions on mods for a 2g non turbo let me know, i have a 96 rs with most of the basic mods and i am in the process of building a built 420a engine.

Um...you need to understand how the quote thing works. When I replied I quoted the person who I was replying to. I was in no way putting you down. Your questions were already answered and someone made a dumb comment. Comments like his dont need to be on these boards. If a person doesnt have any knowledge on a subject than they shouldnt reply to it, and he obviously had no idea what he was talking about.

Sorry if you were offended, but you shouldnt have been.
