Ok, well I am in the process of replaceing the "mounting" gaskits to the turbo, well while takeing everything off i discovered alot that realy piss's me off to put it mildly... my so called friend that sold it to me for $1000 knew about all this im sure since he caused half of it! and said it was all fixed other than this one gaskit...

what a load of shit that was...

first off he told me he did all of the free mods.. all he realy did was chop the air can.. the 2nd honey comb and silancer were still in the MAF. I removed the silancer but i duno if i realy should the other honey comb i mean it has to be there for a reasion right???

well that didn't bother me at all.. but then i got the intake pipe/hose/recordian off and felt of the compressor turbine.. it felt like there were freakin teath on the sob! (like on saw blade) so i wasn't happy at all with that..

well i wasn't realy mad yet either considering it has 175,000 miles on it i was thinkin ehh i guess that's acceptable..

sooo then after geting all the lines off the turbo and geting the SOB manifold to come off which i ended up haveing to take the 02 houseing off to get to one of the last bolts on the manifold to do i noticed since only 3 studs came out the rest the nuts just came off.. that the manifold was hiting the power stearing pump.. so i was stumped for a bit... tried and tried again.. bitched and cussed and tried again still no go.. so i ended up unbolting the turbo and then after alot more bitching and trying got the manifold off..

well by then and noticeing soo many bolts broken or missing i was and still am quite angery . well im mad and it only gets worse when i notice even more leaks and gaskits missing.. then i check for shaft play in the turbo.. YEP! after firing somecompressed air in the exhaust houseing i noticed it seemed to wobble a little and yep... it was..

the compressor turbine looks like some one dumped chunks of cast iron down into it or something.. however the exhaust turbine looks perfect. soo.. even though it only cost me $1000 it looks like i got alot of more shit to do than i thought.. *sigh* and after all this shit today (when i get the gaskits on and everything replaced.. i only have geting the transmission out and repalceing the clutch.. oh boy... :(

i have a few pics i will post now but i'll post some more of just what i was talking about in a while.

I just replyed to your thread about the O2 sensor removal. Now I see you have it totally apart you shouldn't have a problem with removing the O2.
Believe or not your situation with the broken exh manni studs and shaft play are not that uncommon for a 1G with alot of miles. For instance, just recently I decided to upgrade my exh manni and O2 Housing to a ported 2G. I had a total of 4 studs snap and 2 that were already snapped before I even started. Not bad to me. I looked at it as I am glad I found it because now it is fixed. I replaced my studs with stainless steel studs and used 10mm studs for the two lower ends for endurance reasons and upgraded/replaced crushed washers/gaskets. Now you will have the piece of mind that all that area is reinforced and it was all done right. As far as the turbo, is that the original 14b with 175k miles on it? Sounds like it has seen better days but it has lasted a long time. I would say expect to see more of this wear and tear on a 13 year old vehicle with 175k miles on it, no matter what the previous owner stated.
As far as the clutch, I too will be starting the tear down process on the car here in the next month or so. Just waiting for the funds to appear in my account, LOL!
Good Luck
Steve

Thx, I know lately I have come off as an ass around here.. but i dont realy mean to be..

BTW though what do you think about the lower honey comb on the MAF ?? i dont see how it could be THAT restrictive.. and like i said it just seems like it should be there for a reasion...

SON OF A bi*** he just told me something that i want to kick his ass for being so stupid..

he tuck the intake pipe off the MAF and ran it around for 3min like that!!! ALL THAT GOD DAMN unmeasured air!!!

my hart sunk to hell and beyound when he told me this... but i have not noticed any damage... i guess the computer knew it was SOOOOOO WAY WAY WAY WAY ####ing off on the air/fuel mixture it just guessed best it could with everything else.... but still god damn thats like the dumbest shit i have ever heard!!!

i mean he dont know alot about the engine but still GOD!
