I put my spyder on the scale tonight

Ok, you guys just made my day. The sticker on the door frame says that my AWD TSI weighs in at 4090 lbs! Why is it so far off?

Also, on the 1000 already answered questions page it says that the TSI is almost 100 lbs lighter than the GSX. Anybody know why this would be?

GVWR. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. That's the most weight the car can handle (read: 4 idiots and all their junk) before the tires pop, the car bottoms out, or something else shitty happens. We're only interested in CURB weight (weight of car in driveable form, possibly with gas) or RACE weight (driver included).

No difference (assuming you meant TSi AWD vs. GSX, a plain TSi is FWD and GSX is AWD so there's your difference) unless the TSi AWD had manual seats and/or cloth seats, lack of moonroof, ABS, etc or anything else that would reduce weight. On average the 2g Talons had less options than their equavailent Eclipse counterpart, although they could be spec'd up the same at the dealer.

Last year when i went to the track i weighed my car with me in it with nothing taken out and it weighed 3002 i mean i only weigh 125 but this scale was at the track so i dont know how accurate it was. (fyi this was at epping in new hampshire)

thats scale is so off, you wounder why you go with alot of cans and always leave with less then you though you would get LOL

Nah, that really happens because the people at the counting counter short you 50 cans. No joke, I went in with my gf to recycle cans, and we had them in boxes, all of the boxes full. We knew how many cans and how much we should have gotten. And of course, you can't contest after they sort them out... ####ers aren't getting our business again.

eclipsegsx1736:

Thanks for clarifying the difference between curb and gvrw weights, I never knew the difference.

Also, I think you are right about the weights differing because of vehicle specs because they were both AWD models.

I was curious so i went to the local recycle center, cost me 10bucks but o well.. 3280 with full tank of gas, me, spare tire. MY weght reductions are cf hood and no ac.. my 18s probably hurt me.
