Winnipeg,
My boost gauge needle shakes when i boost past 4000rpm. What would you figure would cause this? The car doesent shake at all and it does seem to boost fine except that at about 4500 it sputters and breaks up. But I can still keep accelerating past 4500 it just sputters bad. It sputters at 4500 till redline weather i am boosting or not.

Thanks :thumb:

I got new 6es's gapped to .28 and I am in the middle of making a boost tester for my new turbo. I got t-bolts on all couplers and my vac is 20 at idle so It should be ok but I know I still need to boost test. Would A boost leak really cause the needle to shake under boost? It shakes real fast between 3-4 psi.

I do have a logger but no wideband. My loggs look normal. I do have a safc and I tried removing fuel when boosting and on stock injectors I knock removing more than 5% and even at that it didnt change the guage from shaking.

If it was a boost leak wouldnt i technically be able to band aid it a bit removing fuel?

The gap should be .028-.031 not .28

And yes a boost leak could cause the needle to shake because the turbo is trying to generate boost while the boost is leaking out of the system.

Well I am still have issues and I am ready to drive this thing into a tree :beatentodeath: . I have

Installed my wastegate and 680's :thumb:
Swapped the following with known working ones...
mas
coilpack
transistor
plug wires
ecu
cas
and I have bought new 6es's gapped to .028
I hooked a fuel pressure gauge up and the base is about 40 at idle w/o vac, 30 with vac and rises with my boost gauge when accelerating so that should be fine.

I have also boost tested with only a small leak at the tb seal but thats been there before this started happening.

I have the timing set to 5* btdc

physical timing and b-shafts checked 4x's

I got no cel's and the engine seems to viberate when it sputters enough to loosen my tbolt clamps .

The only thing I can think of is a bad wire somewhere in the engine harness??? What else could it be  ?

I am thinking of getting a turbo harness and seeing if plugging that in fixes anything.

Any other ideas what else it could be???? I gotta fix this so I can bring my new setup to the track. Right now its nothing more than a nice lawn ordeament and go to the store car :barf:

I also did check compression it was 160-165 accross
